Trey Wingo podcast: Did Dallas win the Micah a Parsons trade?

Yeah could you imagine what would've happened if Parsons got 50 million dollars a year in Dallas after him laying on the massage tables in preseason complaining about his back and then proceeded to have back to back seasons in which he's injured ? This forum would've had an absolute meltdown (and that's under the assumption that the Jets trade doesn't get leaked as a possibility that got away, if it did that meltdown would be way worse)
Man you’re not kidding. We dodged a bullet. I wanted him back….i think many of us did but I can also admit we dodged a bullet.

I'll say it again. If the Packers end up winning a Sb then they won the trade. If Dallas wins one then we won it. Otherwise it's a wash. The players mean nothing to me if we don't take advantage of it. So Many good players have been wasted here.

Wasn’t Dak hurt a few years ago and they went 5-0 with Rush?
Dak hasn’t gone two consecutive years without being hurt since 2016-17.

Rush won 4 games in relief a few years back . But after a big loss to Egirls Dak returned.

If you think the Cowboys were a playoff caliber team with Rush then why isn’t he a starter somewhere else ?

It’s amazing the amount of bashing the greatest talent the Cowboys have had this era .

And if the players we acquire from the trade sway the balance of this team to finally break thru to a championship then we can thank Parsons.

I think we won in spite of Rush. He’s not starting because he put on some bad tape up. My point was this team won 7 games with Micah. Injuries and all. Last year we won 7. Bad defense and all…

I agree on talent, but unfortunately he had some personality traits that were very offputting to fans which is likely a large part of the bashing.

Lets be real....talent trumps so much, but at some point it doesnt, especially the way he acted during the contract situation.

Look at pickens as a counter example - hes got a lot of personality traits that have rubbed fans the wrong way, but has immense talent - had he handled his situation worse (which he still might next season) im sure he would catch similar flak

And those contract situation issues were mainly driven by what he felt was disrespect by Jethro , which I’d agree.

Back in the day I hated Michael Irvin’s off field criminal behavior but I didn’t want to trade him. This behavior by Parsons was very understandable and not criminal . It only occurred as a result of the contract fallout.

We should have held our owner more accountable or responsible as it was his failed contract renegotiations which caused the entire situation.

Could Parsons have handled it better , yes. But he shouldn’t have had to handle anything but signing a new deal. First time in Cowboys history we didn’t resign a perineal All Pro to a second contract.

The difference was a healthy Dak and top 5 offense. It’s really that simple .

Too early to say.

If the trade forced Jerry to get aggressive and trade for Q Williams, that's a win in itself.
Parsons is still young, and Packers on paper are a good team. To be determined if he can be a X factor or not for their defense.
Dallas got it's stud interior DL last year but just needs a good edge presence to really put the team on teams in pass rushing situations.
TBD if the current group is good enough or if they'll swing for the fences one more time and get Crosby.

Great character as well!
it’s amazing how fans pick and choose defending players character. This isn’t directed at you but your response spurred my reaction. So dont take this personal.

I recall just a few years ago when I was harshly bashed for not taking Elliotts side with his suspension for personal conduct stemming from the accusations on physical abuse of his former GF.

But Parsons childish non criminal behavior amongst a contract dispute was too over the top for fans ? Accusations beating up on girls is ok.

We shouldn’t let our emotions drive our evaluations and opinions. We traded arguably our best player , perennial all pro considered a generational talent for the unknown at the time .

Looks like we are cashing in on the trade but the fact we can recover punctuates the value there was for a talent of his caliber .

Generally everyone I trust like former coaches and players say you never trade a talent as such especially in their youth if all possible.

Very rare a player of his caliber is traded before second contract. 1st time in Cowboys history.
What? Aren't you forgetting that parsons the all pro, generational talent was focused more on podcast and was injury prone? Parsons was a huge distraction and the wrong type of guy in terms of chemistry. Quinnen, is a great player without the drama Parsons brings at a much needed position. I still say we wom even if it was just Parsons for q.

I don't know man, I was so tired of Micah and his podcast drama, and weird behavior. He was not focused on ball and it bothered me as a fan to see him spending so much time doing social media stuff. So for me even without a super bowl it's a huge win to have that type of diva gone.

I don’t care anything about his podcast. Never watched one and ignore outside noise .

And he wasn’t a distraction until Jethro disrespected him in contract negotiations.

Yeah, I forgot to include them when I corrected erod's post.

Dallas — Kenny Clark, Quinnen Williams, Malachi Lawrence, Devin Moore and LT Overton

Green Bay/Jets — Micah Parsons, Mazi Smith, D'Angelo Pounds*, Cade Klubnik** and best of our two 2027 first-round picks

(The Jets traded down with our second-round pick for a second and fourth and took Pounds, then traded up in the fourth with the pick they had received to select Klubnik.)

Since we get the lower of the two firsts next year, that also affects the quality of our compensation. Say we finish 25th in the draft order and Green Bay 12th or vice versa, the Jets get the higher pick and that can be quite a difference.
Means there will be no debates about “tanking” for a better pick. Wont matter, unless GB is right there with them, and both is extremely unlikely.

Just look at the Romo OWI situation. People are propping up all the other ways people cause crashes from behind the wheel to diminish the possibility Romo was driving while intoxicated.
