Really bad part is Garrett was such a bad coach we would have probably been able to draft really well in those eight and eight years.

But no Romo had to take just enough chances and somehow get us to eight and eight but miss the playoffs.

Keeping us in the NFL's version of purgatory for years but hey Romo was wonderful we wouldn't have been the mediocre pile of crap that we were without him.

As much as Romo tried my last nerve and pissed me off when he was our quarterback I do really like him as an analyst and a human being.

That said you can't change the spots on a leopard he still has no grasp on risk versus reward and as we saw in the sobriety test he's not taking directions from anybody he's doing the test his way.

I'm very much hoping that he escapes from this mess the same way he escaped the grasp of JJ Watt that day and lives to commentate another day

You might be right but we had the special talent back then of being mediocre so often.

That at the end of the season when we just missed the playoffs it turned into a pile of crap fast.

Not to fear though Jerry was always there to try and stuff 10 lb of that crap into a 5 lb bag and hype it into something new for the following year only for it to turn out the same way sheesh.

Okay we did have one year we went nine and seven.

But I swear I think Garrett and Romo had like four eight and eight seasons.

It was like the movie groundhog Day or a bad dream you couldn't wake up from.

My bad a couple of them were with Dak but Garrett orchestrated some serious mediocre seasons

And the only time I had a little confidence in those teams was in 2014 when they finally let Murray share the load.I got tired of all those great Romo punts. Of course everyone blames Murray for the playoff loss. We don't get that far without him. Romo had too much of Brett Favre in him.

Exactly brother spot on post.

When Romo finally realized that it was in his best interest to use the running game and stop constantly checking out of the run unfortunately his body was at the end of the road.

He had back surgery and for some unknown reason decided to run after that surgery in a preseason game and get hurt in a preseason game why I could never understand.

I saw him make quite a few bad decisions but career-wise that had to be one of the worst really a shame because he had finally grasped the need to be balanced and run the ball.

For sure he grew up in Wisconsin and Brett favre was his idol he modeled his playing style after him but didn't have that kind of arm.
Just the mentality.
It's a shame how his career ended if he would have had the proper coaching after parcells he might not have squandered his opportunities but he needed a hard-*** like parcells to lean on him and keep him under control

The only thing that was gained by the results of the Romo Garrett era was a sense of frustration and hopelessness along with some meaningless highlight reels that never amounted to anything in the final analysis.

If you understood football you would have realized that was a flawed Union of those two that was never going to make it to a championship.

One was flat out bad at his job and the other needed discipline to be consistent in big moments which didn't exist in that regime.

So instead of criticizing everyone's take on history why don't you talk football and give us your take on the time period.

Maybe in all the mediocrity there was some spectacular thing that happened. Lol enlighten us please

Think we know the answer it's in the results they won Super bowls because they were prepared willing to sacrifice more than other guys.

They new opportunities didn't grow on trees in the NFL and you may never get another opportunity.

Those guys prepared like it was the most important thing in their life because it was.

Tony prepared like it was somewhere in between being as important as dating a hot celebrity and playing golf.

And that's why they are NFL gods and he is unfortunately carrying the spit bucket

They played better
And why?
Because they had a future HOF coach and we had Wade
and also Jethro and his culture
only fools think otherwise
The critical plays in that game were not on Romo; Crayton and his crap, and also the simple fact that our older O line got wore out by the platooning of the Giants D line.
we had a TEN MINUTE DRIVE in the first half. Think on that.

I thought it was Dez"s catch. We don't get that far without Murray and that was really the end of the Tony Romo Era. And by 2016 when Dak took over I was glad. It was time for a change. We were never going to win anything with Romo. The same conclusion I now have with Dak. But he still has a chance to prove me wrong.
