How was I supposed to buy a ticket to a Cowboys game in 1975? Air travel was also very expensive for avg Joe. Today, a dude scraping by week to week can make it work to travel to Dallas to watch his team play the Cowboys if he wants. THAT is why so many opposing fans are at games today. The NFL is global.

A new analysis estimates that a family of four attending a Cowboys game in 2026 could spend $1,685.15 for tickets, food, drinks and parking. That’s an 18.6% increase from the estimated $1,421.31 cost in 2025.

The increase follows significant upgrades to AT&T Stadium ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a new long-term agreement that will keep the Cowboys in Arlington through at least 2055.

Tbf, when I go to conventions, there's definitely a cost to it too lol. I'll use MFF as an example as it's my favourite convention. Plus, it helps that I help staff at MFF, but if I didn't, the attendance fee would be $100. Then you gotta have the hotel room, which with 4 people is around $300-500, and then the airfare (for me, I got my flight for $116 this year roundtrip), and then there's the dining. So, it's probably about $800-1000 by the time the convention is all said and done anyway. Then again, I do usually get a discount on the room, so I'm not counting that discount.

There actually was a way to travel to Cowboys games before today’s technology.

Cowboys had a Travel Club. We took it several times . Stayed at same hotel as team able to meet players, coaches and owner. First class. And not terribly expensive .Full itinerary was planned by Cowboys. Fun meeting other fans from abroad and local fans traveling.

The problem with today’s era is it’s encouraged and enabled fans to not be loyal to their local and regional teams . And why so many opposing fans in attendance .

Granted it does provide fans more opportunity to travel . That’s fine but in effect its driven up prices allowing season ticket holders mostly more corporate and businesses to broker their seats out which again drives prices up.

I’m all for progress unless it changes the dynamics of the game day experience and leaving out kids like me growing up and even adults who formerly were able to attend and take their family and kids .

It really does. When I went to the Bears Cowboys game on 2019 (while in Chicago for MFF), it was I think $60-70 for a single ticket, which I guess isn't bad, but it was also for the nosebleed section at Soldier Field haha.

Affordability is a huge problem in America for middle class. And the NFL fans originally was based on the everyday fans attending and supporting their local and regional teams .

I find it sad that these type of fans and kids especially are unable to enjoy the experience I had growing up which fed my fandom and lifelong interest.

It’s all relative to a point . I’d be happy to provide you some comparisons how inflation in sports tickets has out performed new vehicle prices.

And some nice trucks are less than 50,000 . In 1976 I’d guess around $5,000.

I could buy a Cowboys ticket in 1975 for probably less than $10. I posted a stub from 1973 for $8. 10 times would be less than $100. And that was lower level.

Even if you use the $70,000 the differential for tickets it’s completed over inflated in comparison.
