Really curious how play time will be distributed. Are Williams, EZE, Overshown, Malachi, and Von all roughly similar positions?

I hate to throw a wet blanket over this, but Miller is going to have zero impact on this team as far as making plays. His experience and knowledge will be a good thing. But that's about it. He's not an impact player.
Guy looked good last year on a garbage team. 25/30 snaps a game and he will make a bunch of plays.

What's next, are they going to dig up Vince Lombardi's corpse and have him mentor Schotty?

Not to pick on the guy because he's still much younger than me, but most pass rushers are done by age 32. Miller is 37.
There is a retired QB who would attest to the fact that Von is a top ten pass rusher of all-time. His name is...Tom Brady I believe?

In all honesty, Von Miller isn't "most pass rushers." He's not in his prime anymore. Not an every down guy. But there is nothing to dislike about this move. Off the field, he beings leadership and knowledge for the young guys.

Now if we can only find a RT to push/take the job from Steele lol

Question why is Taylor Decker still unsigned?

Me remembering that he was in the same draft as 20 year old Tyron Smith.

And JJ Watt, Cam Newton, Julio Jones, AJ Green, and Jason Kelce.

How is this dude still playing?

You can add all the DE’s sack total last year and Miller would probably surpass them by himself

Still playing because he is an all time great.

Part of it though is that he doesn’t play a ton of snaps. That’s gotta help. If he were a great OL, who never get swapped out, he’d have been done at 37.

From a schematics view, I preferred Bosa. Big body 3-4 End with athletic ability to drop back. His problem is health. Who's to say we don't try to add him to the fold too. If that's the case, then I might be worried about our young guys. Could mean CP is concerned. Von made sense in hindsight for me.
Have you looked into recent reports on Bosa?

Von is currently tied for 9th place in sacks all time, needs 3 sacks to be tied for 6th all time. Needs 12 to be tied for 5th place, so a big jump from 6th to 5th. He had his most productive season in a while last year, hopefully he stays healthy and gets his 9+ this year. He is super motivated.

A two time Superbowl Champion, Hall of Fame lock, 9 sacks last year - what the hell is not to like???
Because at his age what he did last year has zero bearing on what he will do this year. In the NFL as players age there is small declines thena cliff. Not all players are like that but most players are. Banking on a 37 year old player HOF bound to provide 9 sacks is a bit much. I hope he does but the odds say otherwise.

OXNARD, Calif. – The Cowboys have agreed to terms with veteran outside linebacker Von Miller, bringing one of the NFL's most decorated pass rushers to Dallas.

Miller, 37, is a native of Desoto, Texas, located just 30 minutes away from AT&T Stadium. Now, going into his 15th NFL season, he'll get to suit up for his hometown team.

Earlier in the offseason, Miller posted an image of himself photoshopped in a Cowboys uniform on Instagram among other social media posts that indicated his interest in heading to Dallas. That has now been fulfilled.

What was the CAP hit.

Who is being released?
Need to keep my roster updated.

Probably be Patterson or Robinson.

Have the details come out? I assume it has guaranteed $'s and means Miller is on the team but is that confirmed yet as I didn't see the details? We mostly carried 5 Edge guys last year. How many will be on the 53 this year? 5 again? 6? With none likely having the size to drop down inside when we move to a 4-3 I am guessing 5. Well, Gary I guess could see some time as a DT in the nickel but probably not enough to impact the roster decisions

EZ, Gary, Lawrence are on the team. That leaves 2 spots.
If we assume Miller is now on the team that leaves one player. Sam Williams was just signed with $2M guaranteed so knowing how this team operates that means it's likely him, plus as nutty as he is, he can play early downs better than the other options he would be pitted against for the final spot. So Miller being signed means Houston, Land, Wheat and Liufau are gone. One thing Houston can do is get to the QB. Is he as good at it as Miller at it even at this point? No I guess not, but he costs $1M per year and as crazy as it sounds was our best pass rusher last year of the Edge guys from last year who are still on the team. Liufau isn't an NFL caliber Edge IMO due to his size, but he could be one of our best STers. Maybe we keep one of these two as a 6th Edge? None of the 4 are guys who likely would play much with Miller now here so no big deal and the only one likely to be active on game day if he were on teh roster would be Liufau but that wouldn't be to play Edge in this defense. All just my two cents of course
