PFT: Troy Aikman calls out Jerry for a 30-year Super Bowl drought

Parcells SUCKED. He was way over-the-hill by the time Jerry brought him over. Ol' 34 - 32. That was his record as a Dallas Cowboys head coach. That's not the record of a very good coach. That's the record of a very average head coach, and his teams were exactly that: AVERAGE. I would not include Parcells' name in the same sentence with the word STRONG.
Let’s be fair:
The tuna took over a team that went 5 and 11 3 straight years and had them in the playoffs his first year.
He built the team wade inherited that was really good.
I stand by my statement.
Love you AC! Btw

Agree 100%.........it's no longer about blaming players and/or coaches. It has taken me a while to see it, but this is on Jerry 100%. At a very minimum, he should have a high-level assistant GM with some authority working under him and NO, not McClay. He is also part of the problem IMO.

Troy Aikman: Cowboys’ championship drought is hard to fathom

It’s really odd that Troy is harping on Jerry NOW after the makeover we had this offseason.

I think Troy is bitter that Jerry hasn’t catered to him and asked Troy to help out. Troy is a Cowboy legend as a player but I’m not sure that Troy is the football guy that he seems to think he is. He may not have been any better than Jerry.

IDK ...V
30 years?
At this point, Jerry's credibility is zero..........You could have none more ( for less money LOL)

The worst thing that ever happened to the Cowboys was Jerry winning so soon into his tenure. It made him think he had the right stuff to win continuously and underestimate or completely disregard the impact other people had on the team's success.
From the Netflix doc, I got the impression that Jerry didn’t like Jimmy being showered with all the attention for winning the SBs and Jerry’s response was to ensure that a coach never win another SB again. Jerry turned the team into a soap opera leveraged solely to the fact that they won 3 SBs and are now able to rely on manufactured drama to stay on the front page.

For sure, he can also walk around the locker room and give high fives. Make the press conference trade announcements. He can pretend he was a football guy just like he did with Jimmy running things.
This...is a big problem. Jerry wants to be "one of the boys" instead of a real GM.

Can't remember which game recenlty...a regular seaosn game the Cowboys won and he was in the post game locker room huddle celebration.

Super Bowl? Even NFC champions? Sure!

A regular season win. Dude.

Yes, I forgot to mention how Parcells had the Cowboys in the playoffs twice. Record once there? 0 - 2. Nice going for an old blowhard. 34 - 32 regular season. 0 - 2 during the playoffs as coach of the Dallas Cowboys. Yuck!

PS: Love ya, too, brother JVB!

You do remember the roster that Parcells inherited, yes?

Not anywhere worse than the one Schotty just inherited last year with the worst defense in all of the NFL. Most of that defense is now gone.

I bet Schotty will do a much better job rebuilding and leading this team into the playoffs than Parcells did from 2003 - 2006.

There’s no way Schottenheimer inherited a worse situation than Parcells did. Parcells took over a franchise that had gone 5-11 three straight years, had no franchise QB, and was still dealing with the fallout from the awful Joey Galloway trade, which cost Dallas two consecutive first-round picks and seriously hurt their ability to rebuild through the draft.

Despite that, Parcells immediately went 10-6 and made the playoffs with Quincy Carter. Schottenheimer inherited a team with Dak Prescott already established at QB and considerably more proven talent on offense. Yes, the defense was awful last year, but that doesn’t make the overall situation worse than what Parcells walked into.

Parcells also helped build the foundation with Romo, Witten, Ware, Newman, Barber, Ratliff, etc., and that roster went 13-3 the year after he left.

Maybe Schotty does better; I hope he does. But saying he inherited a worse situation than Parcells is a huge stretch.

Do you know when the football season is about to start?

It’s not when guys report to training camp or preseason games begin.

It’s when all the talking heads start espousing their tired screed of the Cowboys’ Super Bowl drought.

You can make a nice following online or a lot of money on ESPN joining in.

There’s literally a small cottage industry from bashing Jerry that I don’t know what all of these people will do when they actually win.
