Isaiah Land keeps showing up

That’s pretty much exactly what they did last year

Here was 53 man cut down 2025
Edge: 6
DT: 5
LB: 5
S: 4
CB: 6
It makes sense to me considering that the defense is new. The offense is kind of set, so unless the further-down depth is players we can't risk to waivers (like Camden Brown might be), it doesn't matter as much if that deeper depth is on the roster or practice squad.

Steal from the offense to keep a sixth OLB Isaiah Land? Who has been in the league since 2023? It would make more sense to put him on the practice squad.
As Kwyn wrote, we did that last year. It's not unusual.

Whose spot will he take?

Fangio’s Eagles carried five edges last year, as did the Clowboys, although there were a few weeks where each had six but I think that was usually due someone being inactive due to injury

Left OLB: Gary, Houston
Right OLB: Eze, Miller
Rotational: Lawrence

Cut: Williams, Land, Liufau, Wheat

They already might have to stretch the WR room. Can’t carry extra bodies in every group.
You really think Williams will get cut?

OH man..

OK if you feel that way I get it but yes you are overreacting to the backup thing you remember when this guy was here the first time you remember when the 1st time Julius Woods was here you remember all those other guys we discussed about a month ago that used to be these pet cats and they were camp heroes and they showed out in preseason and then what They didn't even make it the entire season on the practice squad or even on the roster.

That we have to tone down our expectations for what we think we're seeing..

Especially at this position I don't know the who's gonna make it and who's not at all those guys that are fighting for that last one or two spots at OLB,
I'm not saying he should be a roster lock. I'm saying that he should be given more opportunity because he keeps showing up whenever he's given snaps.

Plus, players can improve, especially when they come into the league from a small school. Miles Austin wasn't ready to star as a receiver when he entered the league, but he developed into a quality starter. There are other players who went from the practice squad to the playing field.

I don't because of his contract. I think he should be. Of course, I also think he shouldn't have been re-signed. He is a good special teams player, when he's not doing something boneheaded, but you can only carry so many ends on the game-day roster. Who you going to make inactive to have him on the 46?

This.

I’d actually go with 4 ILB’s to do it.

I think there’s more talent at edge that inside linebacker and I’d stock my roster accordingly.
That's possible because it would give us 10 "linebackers." The sixth OLB spot might come down to whether Barron makes the roster at ILB.

I am interested to see how he does under Parker. Can he get out of Williams that the others could not.
Will he be more disciplined.

I have Barron over James among my 4.

Overshown
Winters
Barham

I'd go that way, too, but I would hate to send James through waivers this early in his career. Of course, I'd hate that with Barron, too, but at least he's made it to the PS before.

Only if they keep five. If they keep six I think he sticks. I had him as safe until Miller signed
When you say 5 or 6, you mean OLB?
I have Miller pushing Houston off the roster.

I have them keeping 5 OLB right now, and Williams being one of them.

It's definitely undecided at the moment, and I'd only want to keep Land if he keeps showing up. I just haven't seen anything that tells me we're going to get more out of Sam than we have. He can make some strong run plays when he plays with discipline. He can occasionally flash as a pass rusher. And he can be a very good special-teammer when he plays with discipline. I'm just not sure that's enough, especially if another player keeps getting sacks.

I'd hate to see that. I think Houston should be part of our pass rush when we are in passing situations. He's another who gets pressure when he gets the chance.

And this fall, he can show up on the practice squad.
And he might. The odds are stacked against him making the roster. I'm just pointing out that he keeps making plays, particularly getting pressure and making sacks, which is what you want from an end.

I like what I see from Houston. But to me, he and Miller is the same player. I think either one can get the same production. Maybe Miller a little more. Both here for a year. Williams has longer term upside potential. Again if Parker can do what others could not do.

Fans are high on Houston and for a good reason. But 3 of his sacks last year came in a meaningless game where he played more than usual.

I just see our nickel defense being Miller and Houston at end and Gary and Quinnen at tackle. That's when we are in the 4-2-5 or 4-1-6 because of down and distance. Lawrence and Eze will mix in some and possibly whoever else we keep at OLB/DE, but I think those need to be our primary pass rushers for now. If Eze or Lawrence start showing enough to push them down the depth chart as pass rushers, I'm all for it. But right now, Miller, Gary and Houston are our best pass rushers at OLB/DE.

I primarily see Eze right now as our early-down end/OLB with Gary at the other spot.
