Offensive Tackle Drew Shelton

I'm sure but...there aren't exactly good OTs available who are willing to sign as a swing tackle.

Anyone worthwhile is going to go where they can start.
Yup.

Its late for all that.

Season starts soon.

Jerry knew we needed help.

He just ignored it. Ego.

Apologies if this was already stated, but the Cowboys moved Shelton to LT in practice after the Seattle game and flipped Nate Thomas to RT.

These changes to the second team line seem more in tune with what each player is better at. We'll see.

Decker has a chronic shoulder.
As I answered you in the other thread when you first brought it up, Decker has managed this condition for the last few years and missed very few games.

So I'm still taking this risk/reward decision and starting Decker all day every day and twice on Sunday over Guyton.

Hes still a huge improvement over Guyton as a starter regardless of his shoulder.

That's just me.

Like Parcells said….”just go down to the Texaco and get one.”
I wish, the backups didn’t look that good this past game, Steele either, and he wasn’t that good to begin with! I would hate to be in season and our oline is really sucking and holding g the rest of the team back.

They're not just sitting out there. Most every team struggles with this, so good luck finding one.

Decker is a good idea, but what does it cost, and has he stayed in shape. That's a big body to reboot. We saw that with Peters.
Yup, Decker was a starter last year, not THAT old, would be better than Steele and any of our backups, or even Guyton maybe. Cam Robinson maybe?

Anyone watch him last night? He was terrible. 3rd stringers were working him over. Discouraged about that debut. They need OTs to step up.

Any thoughts?
Funny, everything I read says he is moving up the roster. Perhaps you ae not a good talent evaluator, especially OL. Oh, I forgot, you played guard at Our Sisters of Mercy Elementary School and that makes you an expert.

You probably worked real hard on this response.

From what I’ve read, he has a chronic shoulder problem.

Likely needs a shoulder replacement.

10 years of NFL will cause that.

His feet were terrible. Big time 2 handed lunger. He also lunged high. No one can recover from that. He was terrible. How the heck did he play in the big 10.
Maybe just 1st game jitters?

I want to give the kid a chance.

He might be our starting RT if things go south.

He needs to get to work.

First in/ Last out at the Star everyday.
