To true fellow Cowboy fans. it's OK to be excited

Yes, I have been through that. Was 17 and in high school without a care in the world the last time they won it all. Now 48 and lost both my parents two years apart to cancer. The changes that have occurred in that amount of time boggles the mind when I think about it.

The turning point for me was the Green Bay playoff game two plus years ago. It took something out of me. Yes, I will always love this team and root for them. But I am done with having sports results beat me up.

I want to watch the Cowboys for fun, not to get anxiety. And I totally understand if people don't agree with me. Everyone is unique.
I get it. The bright side for me was i moved past an obsessive behavior towards the Cowboys. There was a period of time that I would scroll this site no less than once every hour of every day that I was awake (my familycan attest to this)...year round. Had they been more successful over the past 30 years, who knows I might have kept up that unhealthy practice. Now, I can just check in time to time...just to see what's happening, watch the games and be happy when they win, sad when they lose but ready to move on back to real life after the game is over.

I dont expect us to win it all

Im just excited we saw holes in free agency and addressed it and got a stud in the draft

I fully expect anywhere from 8-9 to 12-5

No more than a wild card win
Who expected Seattle to win it all last year?

Damn, I guess the dolphins, chargers, bears, jets no longer have" Real fans." They must all be dead by now?
Yea, there’s still some Diehard fans around the league who continue to support their franchises and teams despite having any success .

Some of the greatest and most loyal fans I’ve met over the years come from some of the franchises with the least success.

It’s easy to root for a winner . But no doubt more fun. My dad told me early on that anyone can root for a winner but builds character rooting on a loser. This was before Cowboys ever made the playoffs.

You should arrange for players to lower you into your plot so the Cowboys can let you down one last time.

Hey-yo!
.
.
Truth of the matter, we've read many-a-story in here how in the last 30 years, several fans have left us without seeing the 6th.

I honestly believe that, he seems like a bot. He just gives generic “automatic” answers and can’t even debate or argue with anyone he doesn’t agree with. Seriously, at least the people who are “haters” support their arguments with facts or a rational thought, this cat contributes nothing.
I put on ignore and only see some post others quote.

Can only assume he’s paying big cash on this site for it to tolerate him.

I don't really know what a "REAL" fan is. There are different levels and types of fans for every team. Dedicated, low standard, high standard, casual, people that dress in barrel's and Cowboy/Indian uniforms. I don't really think there is a right way but I will say that fans of the teams you spoke of that did expect to win, go to the championship or Super bowl are dead now. It has been so long for some of them.

Their latest fans are just used to getting happy with winning "Regular season" games, sometimes.

The fact of the matter is that most of us who gripe about not having playoff success now are ones that saw it literally ALL THE TIME when we were younger. It was more of a shock to not get to the NFC championship game. Now, younger people are out of their minds happy winning 9 or 10 games. Getting bounced from the playoffs is like "mehh, oh well it was a great year".

some people always fall for the same snake oil salesmen again and again
Yeah, and other don't, but they still keep coming back. Who's better, a positive fan that keeps coming back and enjoys the game....or the negative fan, that hates the team from owner to QB, but keeps coming back and watching a game that makes them miserable? Just a question, not pointing fingers.

You can’t take the truth?
Awwwww…sounds like someone’s feelings are hurt because they can’t use that statement anymore.

And what’s the “truth”? That no one, ever, has said “just keeping it real, we will make the playoffs”? That’s such a weak statement, you realize that, right? We all know the point you’re trying to make but it’s lame to use the example you’re using to try and prove what exactly?

What’s better, a fan that holds their owner accountable and voices displeasure when the results are lackluster or the fan that licks the owner’s boot heels no matter how bad the results are?

Just asking question, not pointing fingers. Oh BTW, I met Jerry once, he was a nice guy so I won’t say anything bad about him, lol.

What about the "objective fan". One that analyzes and sees problems based on facts and want to discuss it and talk real football. Do you still consider them just "negative"/haters?

We are finally going into a season where there is reason to believe we have a chance of winning it all. The pieces are now in place to pull it off. For all the years Jerry has held us back, you can finally give him a smidge of credit for what he did this offseason. It started with the trade of Parsons that put us a position to completely revamp the defense. Not just revamp - but improve exponentially at all levels. And despite what some morons continue to say here, we have an outstanding QB who likely plays the best season of his career. Offense will be dominant. Defense goes from being a complete liability to a strength. Of course, everyone knows that regardless of talent, certain things must go your way to win it all - but the fact is, we have a roster capable of pulling it off.

And again, in the big picture it's entertainment. Not life and death. It's meant to be fun. And for the first time in a long time, you have a team you can be proud of and have fun supporting.
Salud!!! I chose to enjoy the game and the team, a long time ago. Life's to short to waste my time being miserable, on purpose. If we win, great!!! If we lose, so be it. That's me, I've come to learn that many of us differ in the way we fan, that's cool.

We’ve had other teams this era that were fun supporting regardless the frustrating and disappointing endings .

While there’s much to be optimistic about heading into this season with upgrades of talent on defense it’s still unknown to what extent those will be and potentially how far it could take us.

I think it’s enough to believe we should have enough to return to playoffs and be more of a contender than previous more recent years.

Confidence is earned and gained after evidence is divulged . And that can only come with the results of the season as it unfolds .
Go Cowboys!!
And this is true EVERY season. We had several number 1 seeds get knocked out by a wildcard team in the past 15v years. I guess that gm just sucked. I look forward to every season, but I never boast we are winning a super bowl. That's just stupid. NOBODY was credibly picking Seattle last year.

I say plenty about Jerry, I just don't let it bother me....and you stooping to calling me a boot licker behind a keyboard, tells me the kind of woman you are. Go scream at your blow up doll and stick the pump up your blow hole, while you bend over and lick your own boots. Lol

In the end, we are fans of this team. We will never not root for them. Its just pay of who we are. Im ok with that. My life is great. Winning or losing a super bowl doesn't add or detract from that.

Wow, how lame really want to start the insults?
You know I am right and you don’t like it. So you have to show how hurt you are by projecting it onto others.
