Schottenheimer Culture

You could see he was settled by the tone last year when he sat Pickens and Lamb against Raiders last year. This year team is serious and focused. Feel like this staff is coaching without Jones meddling
I’d say you’re on the right track. Jerry’s been busy negotiating his latest business deal, so now he just might get bored.

This is all a very good thing, and if there’s any level of success he will be sticking his beak in front of every mic and camera he can find. He will need to let everyone know it was all him that put it together.

I hope not, but let’s not fool ourselves.

Wait, so guys missing curfew while hanging out at a casino the night before a game with rumors that one of them may have been throwing up sit out 3 plays and that is setting the tone from a culture perspective? Or is it you are a great player so you can do whatever you want. I took that as a completely hypocritical punishment based on what this team preached all offseason.
Great players are held to different standards. Everyone knows this.

Pat Mahomes could skip an entire week of practice while on a bender in Vegas and he'd start on Sunday.

True but neither was to talk Jerry into making the kind of changes we have seen this offseason, especially on the defensive side. Also, the different culture now is a multitude of high-level defensive players with strong leadership skills vs one or two players ( Parsons and Diggs ). I def think the culture is stronger and necessary for getting through the tough parts of the season and playoffs.
I would mostly agree. My main gripe is using a fairly weak example from last season. Last year was an example of a not so great culture…we can argue that some good came from hard lessons learned, but so far the Schotty culture effect hasn’t resulted in a winning season.

Careful with Shotty.

He let Eber destroy the season with that jacked up cover 3 scheme.

Let CP walk all over the draft.

Let Jerry create the LT/RT mess

Let Jerry trade Micah.

He ain’t Jimmy.
Shotty was terrific last year.

There is no "scheme" that could have helped that band of misfits on defense last year. It looked similar the year before with Micah, too.

They finally started addressing this when they signed Quinnin Williams. It's been much better since.

Darren Woodson is on record ....
Saying a team never should let WR and or DB's set the tone & culture in lockeroom

And for years it was CD, Diggs

The transition to QWill, K.Clark, maybe Miller. In time hopefully Barnham, M.Law.
EZ seems a bit high strung for now.
O.Line in general seem quiet.
Booker maybe the exception

CP is the culture setter here.
Shotty deserves more credit than this. After he was hired, his first press conference he said he wanted to create the greatest culture in professional sports. It was a goal of his before CP was even here.

He failed up into this position. Hard to set a culture when you fail up.

7 coaches hired that year, as of now schotty is at best 4th on the list. I’m a big fan of his and I wanted Glenn over him but some perspective is due here
He wasn't the worst on paper. Vrabel, Carol and Johnson, I get, but there was nothing to suggest Schotty would be worse than Moore, Glenn and Coen. It was mentioned that he had been an assistant coach for over 10 years, never hired as head coach. But many fail to understand or care that he turned down head coaching interviews coz he felt he wasn't ready.

Then don't say that the tone was set with regards to a culture change when doing that

We had a really quiet camp and offseason without all the ridiculous drama and media attention. Jerry has stayed out of it for the most part. Coaches have the appearance they are in full control and that this is a serious football team.
Yes, and some don't like it.

Yeah, no. I'll sing his praises when we start winning in the regular season. We're serious in preseason? Fine. But he's still the same favor-hire who wouldn't be a head coach anywhere else right now if not for Jerry Jones. And he's the same guy who let Eberfalse have his way all season while actually suggesting he sit up higher to fix the defense. He can prove me wrong, and hopefully he will.

A coach with no power can't set the culture. Don't fool yourself. Jerry sets the culture here.
In the past I would agree with this. However, I feel the current feel of the shift of culture is due to the Jones' taking a step back. Also because Shotty has been around the NFL since he was a kid and has shown he can be trusted. He isn't green like Garrett and don't feel he is easily turned into a yes man. He also has been around them and knows how to work them now and keep them at bay to get this culture set in his vision.

This isn't just my opinion. I have heard many on sports radio that it feels they have stepped back and given Shotty more reign. Yesterday on the Ticket they were talking about the press conference and he said he wanted to make this the best culture sports have ever seen. They said after that they were like well that's a bit over confident and were kinda laughing at this statement. Now they said it just feels different. There's been no distractions and seems headed in the right direction for first time in a long time.

I get the feeling you have here but do think it also deserves a wait and see to fully judge if he can truly change this culture.

Schottys Culture

As much as ive thoroughly enjoyed the Greek Dancing, Ice Cream Socials, Dwarf Tossing and other team activities, I think it fair to give Shoddy more time to put this team in his image now that hes actually finally getting a real NFL roster.

Looking forward to seeing the starting defense in action more than anything with this team
