Never forget that play.Little slow getting into that slide Romo. Especially considering it was a preseason game.
Romo’s back was done.

I think he gets to stay at QB3.Milton did everything asked in pre season he moved the team and didn’t settle for FG’s he found the end zone in 2026 he deserves the back up job .
...until Tony Romo was medically cleared and subsequently played in the final regular season game against Philadelphia. He would have never been allowed to even practice if his back was 'done'.Never forget that play.

He’s got one more year on that scrub contract.
Howell has started in the NFL.
And he’s got a GTD deal.
Why did he retire right after though? Either he was physically done or...until Tony Romo was medically cleared and subsequently played in the final regular season game against Philadelphia. He would have never been allowed to even practice if his back was 'done'.
He was done man, he just couldn't take those hits anymore. Medically cleared or not, it would have been a big risk, who wants to see Romo continue to get blasted?...until Tony Romo was medically cleared and subsequently played in the final regular season game against Philadelphia. He was physically done, but in Romo's defense, if he was willing to leave Dallas he would have kept playing, he just didn't want to go anywhere else. You and I both know his body wouldn't have lasted. I'd be curious what shape he's in with regard to the list of serious injuries. Why did he retire right after though? Either he was physically done or
Mentally checked out….or maybe there’s another reason….
That’s kind of my thing though if he wasn’t done why didn’t he sign elsewhere? Cowboys were going go release him…..He was physically done, but in Romo's defense, if he was willing to leave Dallas he would have kept playing, he just didn't want to go anywhere else. Not understanding these questions. Before I answer, let's apply some logic using your questions:Why did he retire right after though? Either he was physically done or

I'm with ya for the most part, but I do think you're underselling Romo's injuries. Golf isn't football. His injuries were specifically from getting hit.Not understanding these questions. Before I answer, let's apply some logic using your questions:
Romo's era was done in Dallas. He confirmed that fact in his November 'meritocracy' speech. His main desire was playing professional football for Dallas and only Dallas.
- Why did Tony Romo not retire immediately after he sustained his preseason injury if his back was done? Answer: His back was not done.
- Why did return to practice immediately after being medically cleared if he was physically done? Answer: his back was not done.
- Why did he even play in the final game after not playing the entire season if he had mentally checked out? Answer: His desire to play had not vanished from him.
He did not have any strong personal conviction to play for any other team or even attempting to play for any other team. He never had a back transplant. The same back he had during the season is the same back he had when he left the game. He has said his back was a reason for him unofficially retiring but it was not the reason which motivated him to retire immediately after he sustained his last injury.
Here are two question:
Why did Romo not retire immediately after he sustained his final football-related spinal injury? He would have been informed of the health risks associated with football-related activities.
Golf is a sport that exerts significant torque to the lower spinal column. Why did Romo continued playing golf if his back was 'done', when he knew the associated health risks?
I don’t disagree with any of this. My only question if he could still play why didn’t he? Because he only desired to play for Dallas? Seems like a reach. Even Emmitt left Dallas, Brady left Tampa….unless this equates to him mentally checking out….Not understanding these questions. Before I answer, let's apply some logic using your questions:

Yeah in golf there isn’t a 300 pound player jumping on your back all game….I'm with ya for the most part, but I do think you're underselling Romo's injuries. Golf isn't football. His injuries were specifically from getting hit.
Fractured finger, Broken collarbones, (both and one twice - back to back), punctured lung, ruptured disc, a couple transverse back fractures, and the final compression fracture.
Many athletes are able to golf after injuries. Because they're not the same impact.
Respectfully (and I am being dead serious), the answer to your question is Tony Romo. It is highly likely his family, and especially his wife, did not want to see Romo injured ever again. Their opinion, and the only opinions that matter, was not enough to dissuaded him from immediately retiring in late AUGUST 2016.He was done man, he just couldn't take those hits anymore. Medically cleared or not, it would have been a big risk, who wants to see Romo continue to get blasted?
I remember every injury Romo suffered in his career with the Cowboys. My opinion is irrelevant. The only opinion that mattered was Romo's. So:Remember the 2013 and 2014 Commanders games? He got destroyed and should have never been out there. That was hard to watch. Ruptured discs and back fractures are serious. The last injury was the icing on the cake.
It was the icing on the cake for the franchise. You don't seem to be able to accept that. The one series he played is fine, but not a relevant reason for the team to gamble an entire season.Respectfully (and I am being dead serious), the answer to your question is Tony Romo. Romo remembered the injuries he suffered in the 2013 and 2014 Commanders game? Did those injuries stop him from playing? No. He is the person who sustained serious ruptured spinal injuries.
The last injury was not the icing on the cake. He would not have ever suited up again for even a single practice if it had.
Look. I understand many (if not all) of the differing opinions concerning Romo. What matters is acknowledging the events that occurred during the 2016 season:
That's it.
- The second string quarterback, Kellen Moore, got injured
- The first string quarterback, Tony Romo, got injured
- The third string quarterback, Dak Prescott, ascended to the starting role
- Prescott performed extremely well.
- The decision was made to permanently make Prescott the starter
- Romo publicly confirmed the decision in November
- Romo practiced from late October to early January DESPITE the concerns of everyone one and himself for his life-long spinal health
- Romo played a series in a live regular season game against a defense that would have hit him if the opportunity presented itself just like any other regular season game involving any teams and any players
- The season ended with the loss to the Packers
Not to mention the available pain relief.Yeah in golf there isn’t a 300 pound player jumping on your back all game….
No answers to my questions, huh?I don’t disagree with any of this. My only question if he could still play why didn’t he? Because he only desired to play for Dallas? Seems like a reach. Even Emmitt left Dallas, Brady left Tampa….unless this equates to him mentally checking out….
I will answer your question. Again.I accepted Jerry Jones and (to a lesser extent) Jason Garrett decided to make the change at quarterback permanent in November 2016. This is August 2026. Why did you state a falsehood about my acceptance (which has been documented on this site many times) of what actually happened ten years ago?It was the icing on the cake for the franchise. You don't seem to be able to accept that. The one series he played is fine, but not a relevant reason for the team to gamble an entire season.
He played a series. That's not substantial.
Still deflecting. None of these questions had anything to do with what you said.Who's career started immediately?
Who's career isn't over yet?
Who took over?
Good Lord, we all let go when Romo retired, have moved on from that era, and are looking forward. You nutsacks can't. It's sad.
Except this is medically untrue. This was a new injury that didn’t have anything to do with his previous back issues.Never forget that play.
Romo’s back was done.
I thought you answered those questions lol. I wasn’t ignoring them I agreed with your answers but I’ll break it down.No answers to my questions, huh?I will answer your question. Again.
He did not play for any team other than Dallas because he lacked the desire to do so. That motivation was the complete opposite of his motivation to play for Dallas in 2016 after his preseason injury. Question: Do you acknowledge that fact?
Emmitt Smith is not Tony Romo.
Tom Brady is not Tony Romo.
All people are not the same. All people do not think the same. Question (and this is a dead serious question): Why did you type those totally unrelated analogies?
