Change will come with Stephen in charge

"I don’t have a succession plan, I don’t,” Jerry insists, admitting that he’s already started to pass the baton. “One day I just won’t be here to toss my two cents in.”
I think this is pretty much true . Remember his three children will inherit equal shares and none have the ambitions or passions to become a celebrity football guy as their dad did . And why he had wanted to become an owner since he left Arkansas attempting to buy Chargers in late 60’s .

All of the revolutionary revenue brilliance and ingenuity was basically put in place to secure him continuing his passion without loss of revenue due to lack of success on the field as a result and pushback from fans which could have forced him to change his ways.

I have a very strong belief that Stephen is a football idiot and an eventual train wreck running the Cowboys. However two players who I consider among the smartest to ever play here in Aikman and Woodson disagree with me. That does make me reassess things.

I'll probably still agree with myself in review but there will be some reflection first.
While I’d agree Stephen isn’t a football guy he does seem to grasp the business side of it which could be enough if he operates more like rest of league hiring in professionals in front office and operating as status quo around the league.

More importantly I wouldnt discount how much impact and influence his arguably smarter siblings will have overall on overseeing the Cowboys delegating football operations to others.

I could see Stephen assuming the Pres role but hiring VP, GM and normal front office who the siblings can all hold directly accountable on the football side.

The bigger issue or concern I have is depending how long Jethro lives his children could be pretty old themselves . And if one was to pass before Jethro then that might bring one of Jethro’s grandchildren into play .

While I don’t think Stephen, Jerry Jr or Char want to follow in their dad’s footsteps of being a celebrity football guy especially taking over late in life maybe one of their kids do.

And the fact if Jethro lives well into his 90’s his 3 kids will be in their 70’s and could bring into play the grandkids even before Jethro is gone . That’s my biggest concern.

My greatest hope is Jethro’s 3 kids squabble over how to run things after Jethro is gone and just sell out.

I think SJ is gonna hire a great GM and let him handle the team. Basically step back, collect checks, sign them when needed and go fishing on a nice island he bought.

I too believe that Stephen will hire a GM and will be MUCH MORE hands off and we will prosper.

Also, I think the Jones family will sell part of the team to private equity to pay estate taxes.

They have a plan. It’s required by the league

A cheapskate Jerry Jones. Yay.
Stephen is cheaper than Jerry and it’s not close. He opposed signing sanders because it was too expensive. He doesn’t have Jerry’s ego but he also is very conservative. I think Stephen will be worse than Jerry

The only way that Stephen could be an improvement would be if he were to hire a GM and completely step away from any football-related decisions whatsoever.
