Have we become so used to Jerry that anytime he does bare minimum we praise him?

And if Cowboys do overcome the trade from draft picks and acquired players which culminate to more success than we’ve had this era then we will have to credit Parsons much like we did Herschel.

I already apologized for it, I didn’t think I used the word fan, I thought I used the word support, that was my bad. I agree I was trying to ask an honest question as you will see further through the thread.

But it already has set off a landslide, because they misinterpreted my intention, I was curious just like he was, why do people support the Cowboys if they don’t approve them
Me it’s because of the star and what it represents
And I wanted to know, his honest opinion, I wasn’t being derogatory and I didn’t have an agenda
It was the questioning fanhood thingie. Here's why. The cheap shot artists use that vein incessently. So, by using that terminology, you have inadverdently aligned yourself w/ those who run around insulting everyone. I'm thinking that's not what you want.

Certainly can’t elevate as much when continue making other bad draft picks like in 1st round with Taco and Mazi.

While I’d agree receiving 2 1st rounds presents an excellent opportunity to overcome assuming we hit on those picks and the impacts made thereof.

I’d still continue to argue that Parsons did make our defense better . Singling out 2024 doesn’t tell entire story. Causing havoc and creating pressure helped mask other weaknesses like in secondary.

How our defense totally collapsed last year was a great indication how he did elevate defense. Was it enough. No but as we agree more help and better draft decisions were needed.

Greater staffs and organizations would continue attempting to build around such talents instead of starting over. Especially with a seasoned veteran QB and offense ready to contend now.

Good news is it provides us an opportunity to overcome if we make good decisions. Hopefully better ones than in previous drafts with 1st round bust as mentioned.
And still, our D was 28th w/ Parsons.

What was it previous playoff years with him? 2022 12th and 2023 5th

Since when do you not build around your best talents ?
I don’t know what’s it was ranked against GB but it certainly was the worse defense I’ve ever seen when Jordan Love looked unstoppable.

How is asking someone why do they remain a fan a cheap shot?

And how did our offense look . Did we trade them too after GB playoff loss?

Of course not. You continue building around your best talents and upgrading your weaknesses not getting rid of our strengths.

When you need the resources acquired from that "best talent" to build a contender.

So, does this mean you were against the Herschel Walker trade? Seachickens are good in part because they traded away their best talent. Do you really not see how you need to trade away your best talent sometimes to reach contention?

In 1989 we were a 1-15 team. In 2025 we were a playoff caliber team coming off a non playoff season cause our QB went down.

If you have a playoff caliber team you continue building around it not scrapping your best player or players to rebuild.

Attempting to discredit a member personally is Debate 101 but not allowed in this forum based on rules of personal insults and attacks.

Everyone conducts their fandom however they choose much like fans at a game. Argue their comments on merit and content alone .

But he didn't even ask it as an argument it's a genuine question. WHy do you root for the Cowboys if you don't even enjoy? I think its a question that bothers people because they know it makes no sense lol.

People will complain about players all day and never even enjoy the games. Admittedly they hate watching them....ask them why do they even root for this team and there's never a legit answer because it sounds stupid.

First, essentially nobody here is praising Jerry Jones. This board has reached the point where his death is hoped and openly prayed for. The visceral hatred for Jerry Jones here is unmatched in the world of sports message boards. I’m frankly shocked by what is allowed to be posted here about him.

Second, Jerry has had progressively less and less direct influence over personnel decisions for well over a decade. Stephen has had more direct influence over the roster since 2014 or so, and at this point he and McClay run this thing almost entirely. Jerry is a figurehead with technical veto power that in practice isn’t utilized much if at all.

Maybe it makes no sense to you . I’ve been a fan of my Alma mater for 50 years but it’s very difficult cause they suk most of the time .

I bet a lot of parents here attended sports their kids played in that suked but they still showed up.

I know a lot of Cowboy fans here locally who still watch the games but are miserable watching them. They are our local team. You watch and root them on regardless. Don’t have to be happy or enjoy.

Because it is. Completely unnecessary, and quite childish. Everyone is a fan in their own way, and if they choose the negative route, why is that wrong?
I don't think it's wrong. Fan how you want.

I just never have understood why this question is offensive as if it's not warranted lol. For instance if someone says they hate this country and they hate living here isn't the natural question to ask why do you live here? Or if someone says they hate fried foods but the eat fried food....isnt' the first thing you wonder is why are you eating fried food?

Kind of contradictory. It's childish and unnecessary to ask someone why they are still a fan but as a fan don't I have a right to ask that?

That's my take as well.

I think Jerry definitely wanted Parsons back but also badly wanted to win the contract battle with Parsons and his agent, but that gave the rest of the front office time to convince him to trade Parsons.
Jerry never wanted to trade Parsons, which should tell you a great deal about the power dynamics within the organization right now.

I honestly think the belief many still hold that beer win 1995 and Jerry is wielding ultimately authority is a coping mechanism for many. It’s more comfortable to believe that than the reality that what has been controlling the organization for the last 12-13 years will continue after he leaves us.

I get it. I'm not judging their fandom. I'm just questioning why is it offensive or childish to ask lol. Seems like a natural question to ask. If someone asked me why am I a Cowboy fan I wouldn't take offense.

It’s not wrong to be a glass half empty personality/fan.

The issue is many (MANY) here have made it their identity so much so that now being right has become more important than seeing their team win. A lot of posters here actively want Dallas to be bad when they predict them to be bad so they can be right. And once upon a time that was viewed as inappropriate. But because that segment of the fanbase now drives volume in Cowboys message boards it is catered to. Posters here used to be banned when they were so incessantly negative that it detracted from actual football discussion. Now many such posters are some of the most heralded and valued posters here.
