Run down on Broderick Jones for Dallas people

On the Steelers sub on reddit last year they loved him halfway through the season and went on about his improvement, talking about how he was starting to look like the dominant LT they saw at Georgia.

I think the key was he played a lot better on the left side.

I don’t understand how bringing in another guy who has struggled helps us.

Move Smith to LT, Guyton to RT, Bass to LG, and let Steele be the swing and pray there are no injuries.

Scour the cuts and PS players from other teams and sign some guys to upgrade from Thomas or Shelton, and maybe grab an interior OL to back up

We are in a bad way along the OL. Trading assets away for more question marks is dumb.

We knew Steele was a weak link last year and the FO sat on their hands. This is the price of overvaluing your players. They paid him big money which was a mistake, and then they doubled down on the mistake by refusing to cut him bc of the dead money hit

Chasing mistakes with more mistakes is not a solution

Why would you move an all pro caliber guard out to be an average tackle unless you have to?
Why would you move a left tackle whose biggest issue has been physicality out to right tackle where the physicality will be exponentially higher?

the sooner you guys understand that the entire nfl is short on quality offensive lineman , the easier it will be to understand why teams take chances on players like these. Starting caliber players aren’t available

In general, I don't think it's a good sign that former HC McFraud gives up an OT to his former team, whether starter or depth, when the demand leaguewide is at a premium for this position.

And even more so when you've got a 42 yr old QB in his last year needing all the protection help he can get.
Something just don't sit right.

But it's prolly just me.

He "might" be a passblock upgrade.
That's a pretty low bar to clear right now with the current tackles.

That’s just it. We don’t have time. He’s not in physical shape to contribute now and will be a free agent in six months.

Getting a 3rd for him is like winning the lottery at this stage!

I have not deeply dived into it but all the reports I have briefly read about the player is that he is another Steele. Not an upgrade.

I could care less about Guyton or Shelton being drafted in '24 or '26 cuz they both suck at pass blocking too.
The point is the people doing the oline drafting suck at their jobs.
Dline too for that matter.

Yeah, like moving Smith to tackle. Major mistake.

Yep, he doesn't like playing Tackle. He knows his limitations. He is a great guard....easily one of the best in the league. At Tackle, he is good....not great. Honestly, I don't know that he would play LT any better than Guyton does. So at that spot you are maybe staying the same, maybe getting a little better or a little worse. You are getting a major step down at LG. At RT, who knows? Guyton is built more like a LT, for whatever reason the RT seems to face a lot more guys with power than they do guys with speed. So, it doesn't necessarily mean the OL is any better as a unit. These guys are considered some of the best OL coaches around.....that was Adams calling card. That is what Connor Riley was best known for on the college level. They know a hell of a lot better about building the OL than anybody on a fan forum.

Not at all. He is your best LT. He played it in college. Guyton played RT.

Leaving the status quo is gonna get Dak killed.

Guyton only played RT because Oklahoma switched him there because they had a need and a left handed QB.

That right there is the issue. No problem with a Steele replacement but to give up picks for a guy that could have been had for nothing. That's Jerry Jones garbage asset management.

This is another move w/ Jerry in charge that is highly questionable.

We better be right. We really couldn't afford to give up a 3rd.

This breakdown of the new T is not promising . In comparison the Giants got DT depth from the Ravens for a 2028 7th rounder . For a player “ struggling “ in Steelers camp giving up a 3 & 6 next year spells out how disrespected draft picks are by the owner GM . Offer the Steelers a late round pick that’s it folks take it or leave it .

Well said, BTW. Basically, Guyton is an OLT only. The blindside protector. If he can't play OLT, then he simply cannot play, period. The positive side is that he possesses the skillset to be a top 10 OLT in the NFL.

Smith has been a holding penalty nightmare every time he's played tackle.
