Anybody else dissapointed in Sam Willams?

Another wasted second pick. Mlaw was the waste this year. He is a bust
Since you already know how he's going to perform this season and in future years, let me know the scores of all the games. Will save me some time watching.

$2M is a mistake???

That is less than 1% of the salary cap.
Was worth bringing him back. It’s clear what the staff thinks of him though. It might come down to a matter of Jerry overruling people on this one, but I don’t really think he does as much of that as people want to think.

I’m surprised at Williams himself. He has millions on the line and just something about him screams that he doesn’t care. I guess we have seen it before in others.

At least we won’t have to worry so much about roughing the punter on 4th and 22 with a lead, or pre planned victory parties for playoff games. Wonder how that turnout was.

Hell yeah disappointed in Sam Williams. Played in the SEC, wracked up sacks, freak athlete, faster than Micah Parsons. Looks like Tarzan, plays like Jane.

I was hoping he would excel being moved back to OLB, he just doesn’t have it

No I'm not II don't see why we need to hate Sam Williams He made an effort to make it to the NFL he worked really hard I'm sure all his life he tried his best and he failed here Just like Randy Gregory not disappointed it happens but the made it to the NFL I mean played in the NFL for a while that's something you could tell your grandkids I mean it's no small measure to be an NFL player I don't care how low on the totem pole or the low hanging fruit people wanna consider some of these guys they should be applauded for making it and he may still find a small role in the NFL somewhere but his time is done here..

Wasnt worth resigning. He's had his chances. Not a ton of money but still should've found someone else.
But at the time they were securing talent they weren't sure how the offseason was gonna go I don't see the big deal here You know this money's not yours don't take it personal Also the Cowboys have a better personnel department better scouting department a better coaching staff and a bunch of people who deal with money every day who decided to take this risk is a drop in a bucket it sucks that it was guaranteed but it is what it is This is what billionaires do and I realized there's a salary cap but they take risks this is how they got their money in the first place They decided at the beginning of this offseason that they needed to secure his services in case the offseason didn't go as well as planned..

But it has gone better than planned however that position is still not secure in my eyes there's a lot of like hope that the young guys like Eazy E and Lawrence they they actually can back up the other side with Gary on the other side kind of older And they just picked up Von Miller who's older but see they didn't know Von Miller was gonna be in the mix they didn't know how that was gonna work out..

But there's some other guys that just played better and I still think they they think they may still need to watch that area just like corner back and tackle even though it's not a bigger concern is tackle They're gonna have to keep an eye on it 'cause we're expecting a lot of young guys to take a step there mixed in with some older guys but this is a brand new defense with a brand new defensive coordinator there's a lot of unknowns going into this season...

The team telegraphed the Sam pick far ahead of the draft. When we get blinders for a player at a position of need, we rarely do well.

He was a dissappintment as a high pick, but no one ever really expected double digit sacks from him. We knew the player too well.

I mean this with no disrespect but I sometimes wonder what do you guys expect from role players and backups.
A year ago in the preseason you were saying he was going to be a force (like every other player)

Oh well.... if you predict every player is going to be an All Pro, eventually you'll get 1 or 2 right

I mean no one is denying that. The guy made millions of dollars over a few short years as a 2nd round draft pick. Overall he’s done better than 99% of people on this board financially and he’s done so before the age of 30.

For a 2nd round pick though he’s been a massive disappointment. 9 sacks in 3 seasons. 13 accepted penalties during that time. His best asset to the cowboys was his special teams contributions.

I said he would be a force….pull it up. A Eagle fan telling me something I said a year ago is rich boy pull it up:

He seemed to be coming on before his injury. He always seemed to have a knack to do something stupid at a bad time. Overall, I don't think he's a player that will really be missed. He never made much of an impact.

It’s not just 2nd round picks. The great will McClay hasn’t been very good for awhile. They do a great sale job every off season.
Sam Williams was Dan Quinn's pet cat, just like Tysten Hill was with Marinelli. McClay has no control over which voice in the draft room Jerry will listen to.
If you want to criticize McClay, a good example would be of him on video pounding the table for Mazi Smith.

The man was a knucklehead. Glad that he is gone. The only surprising part is that it took this long.
