Milton would have Ben in a contract year next year.
Dak is here for 3 more years.
Chances are Milton would have moved on anyway. And maybe he got his ceiling and the team seen that already.

By the time Dak is ready to go they will have the chance to draft his replacement.

I am still holding onto hope Howell or even Milton if he ends up back here is Dak's eventual replacement. I didn't know Howell is actually younger than Milton until recently.

1. They were trying to trade him and nobody made them a good enough offer.

2. They wanted to put Milton on the PS all along, but waited for other teams to cut to 53 and make roster claims (and some QB trades) before exposing Milton to waivers.
