Teams can start signing players at 1:00 PM EST. Coming up soon.
Once they clear waivers.

Vested Vet payers can sign at anytime. The 1:00 PM time does not apply.

  • Waiver Clearance: Players who are waived during final roster cuts must first clear waivers at 1:00 p.m. ET before they are eligible to sign a practice squad contract.
  • Waiver Claims: Any player claimed by a new team off the waiver wire goes directly to that team's active 53-man roster, not the practice squad.
  • Vested Veterans: Players with four or more accrued seasons do not go through waivers and become free agents immediately upon release, allowing them to sign with a practice squad right away
Post any signings with a link to it.

I imagine most teams are smart enough to just wait Don't get blood in the water bloodthirsty shark like when you're going to try to build your practice squad wait on all the waivers to clear before you even add those vested veterans because there could be some guys that your surprise made it through waivers that you want to put on your team..

I am curious and I don't want to have to ask Google, because I can find this out but it will be more friendly to talk about it,

Which ones can you protect how many can you protect and what does that mean because people are worried about you going to put something you like on a practice club but then he's going to be taken by another team which ones can be protect us so you can't take them.

I don't think they can protect any players. I think they can offer more money, as an incentive from accepting a deal elsewhere. Or if an offer is made, they can counter offer and promote them to the 53.

If a player is promoted to the 53, or is signed by another team. They must remain on the roster 4 weeks minimum. Unless that has changed.

Jones has looked very capable in pass protection for the Cardinals this preseason. He has a feel for timing and space when matched up one-on-one with edge rushers. He has quick feet when moving laterally to mirror rushes. Jones is better as a pass protector than a run blocker. But he took a step forward in the run game in Week 3 against the Green Bay Packers, including a key block on a long touchdown run. Jones played left tackle and right tackle in the preseason. He is the best swing tackle option on the waiver wire.

He was maybe the most steady offensive lineman during the preseason and a guy they had last year as well.

Maybe this is just a different way of saying what you said but seems like they can protect 4 but I guess they have to call those up so it's not really protecting them.lol

Yes, NFL teams can protect up to four practice squad players each week from being signed by other teams. [1]
An NFL practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but do not count against the main 53-man active roster. [1, 2]

    • Four players: Every Tuesday, teams can protect up to four practice squad players.
    • No poaching: Protected players cannot sign with another team's active roster from that Tuesday until kickoff.

    • Roster size: Teams can have 16 standard players, plus a 17th spot if the player is from the International Player Pathway Program.

Odelelye will be the international PS player.
 
Kind of strange we're hearing crickets. Not even some "expected to sign to the PS" tweets going out.

Maybe Dallas is waiting until the whole squad is filled out before announcing anything?

More details for those with questions

Practice squad size and call ups
  • Size: 16 players per team.
  • International exemption: 1 extra spot (Pete doesn’t qualify)
  • Two players per game: Can elevate a max of two PS players for any single game.
  • Roster expansion: Elevating two players increases the roster from 53 to 55 players.
  • Game-day active list: The number of players allowed to dress for the game increases from 46 to 47 players

Emergency Quarterback Restriction
  • The NFL's emergency QB rule does not apply to players who are call-ups. To be the emergency QB, the player must have an actual spot on the active 53-man roster.

why would you waste a PS spot on a RB? is he going to get better? no, the answer is no. The PS is almost obselete, than waste a spot on a RB? are they getting younger as they age? Did RBs get a longer shelf life and no one told the rest of us?

Because if Williams or Davis get hurt, you have somebody in the building who knows the playbook to call up?

Practice squad players get called up for games all the time.

Dallas will need two PS spots for running backs. It's not a waste. Teams have to run practice all season. Are you giving every single rep to Javonte Williams and Malik Davis, or do you want to keep those guys fresh for the game?

The PS is far from obsolete. That's why the NFL expanded it to 16 players.
