Of course he is. He had the most passing attempts in 2023. He's EXPERIENCED...not necessarily better.

In 2023: Howell threw for 4000 yards with 21 TDs, and 21INTs.
In 2024: A rookie Jayden Daniels - who Milton shares many of the same physical gifts with - took the team to the NFC Championship game.

He's a career journeyman backup. We need to strike oil...not mud.

Joe Milton has been hot garbage in the NFL, and he's 26 now. There's no "oil" there.

That's why nobody would trade with Dallas for him.

I hope not. I don’t want to sign a 33 year old, well 34 year old after this year, to a 65 or 70 million dollar contract with his injury history.

Do you think Dak will take a pay cut? Do you think Dak will stay healthy and effective for another extension?

At some point this FO has to have a plan for Dak’s replacement. They’re doing the same thing/mistake they did with Troy. Troy had concussions and back problems and they kept redoing his deal and paying him more money and then didn’t have a plan for a successor.

What are they doing here? They hang on to Milton last year when he put nothing on film and played poorly and then cut him this year after he shows progress and played well.

I have no idea what the front office thought but it appears to me that they didn't like his decisions periodically throughout the games, pre-season. I think the last preseason game they like the decisions that Howell made. Milton might pass through weavers

No, Milton has extremely good tools. At the QB position, that doesn't make him the better player.

Howell reads Ds better and can play w/i the system better. Should be more consistent. Milton makes big plays, but makes way too many boneheaded plays.

All of this may be true......but at the end of the day what I witnessed with my own two eyes is Milton looked better in the preseason games. He just did. We can't deny that. Milton outplayed him in the 1st two games and Howell outplayed him in the last. The only QB I saw making boneheaded plays and reads were Howell. I don't deny Howell may be better he should be he's a vet. But he didn't look better and that's ultimately what should've been the gauge.

It's been reported they do want him back on the PS. The question is if a team like Miami or Arizona will let him clear waivers.

You're right...because it's based on results. 30 years of ineptitude and this group sold us 7-9-1 last year with Dak available for 17 games.

I figured Howell was always QB2 I just thought MIlton was QB 3 and continue to develop. And if it came down to outright losing him I would've kept Milton.

That's the point. If "better QB" is your standard, then let's go get Tom Brady out of the booth. The guy showed remarkable improvement, we need a young prospect and he has 1st round QB physical gifts. He has absolutely shined in a regular season game and then done so in 2 out of 3 preseason games.

To quote Lombardi: "What in the hell is going on out there?!?"

Milton looked pretty terrible in every game I saw him except the Cardinals game and that team looked horrid. Then Milton looked like trash against the Saints the next week..

I think this is a weird move but no way was Milton a savior player like Jayden Daniels.

I guess I don't care about our backups because I don't think we are winning a SB with our main highest paid QB either. LOL

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a big fan, but of the two, I have to pick Howell. Also I was really hoping Joe Milton would show more progress. He had a horrible third last game, and that’s trust going forward.

I don't get it. I'm a Dak fan but there's certain moves they make that make me wonder....Dak will stay healthy is one of them. I mean I hope he will but I certainly don't. This front office for as good as they've been this year they have a tendency to show their arrogance. Its why it shockedme they traded up for Downs. I thought they were going to foolishly sit there and hope he falls.

I'll say it: If Sam Howell had the preseason and physical gifts that Milton does, no way he is just let go. This is about "fit"...and "the best culture in pro sports"...which for Schotty is an agreeable bunch. What backwards goofy guy doesn't understand is that there were teams that won who were at each other's throats, had real controversy and some of them were during the 90s Cowboys run. For every Golden State Warriors you have the Chicago Bulls and The Last Dance.

Teams that win have the best talent that comes together and puts their differences aside. Schotty should have made Milton #2 and released Howell...that journeyman nobody is a dime a dozen.
