Apparently he did not. I mean he looked dreadful in the last preseason game.

He’s a dime a dozen backup. The outrage is wild to me.
I agree that last preseason game was atrocious, but he’s definitely not a dime a dozen

Like I said above its not necessarily about the players its the message it sends. You saw the preseason games did you think Howell out played him?

Milton is the best physical prospect we have had at QB in a very, very long time. This trash heap retreads are not going to do it. The people who win are physically gifted: Lamar, Josh, Patrick...are all gifted. Even trash Hurts is a weight room beast. We can't keep stacking the team with talent and sending them into battle with the Dak's, Kirk Cousins, Romos, etc of the world.

Milton looks like a young QB who is getting better...Howell is a journeyman backup who torches bad defenses.

Here again, Dak is a progress stopper: "We don't need Milton, we have Dak...". Is Dak the answer...so why are we giving away promising pieces?
Yeah, Brady, Stafford, Burrow, Purdy, all physically gifted. Wait..........................

Tom Brady, dink and dunk, methodical, that’s what wins football games, you take what they give you, he tied the game in the fourth quarter, don’t get me wrong. I don’t like either one of them, but Milton had a bad first half, he missed two wide open receivers, had the ball knocked down twice, he wasn’t looking at the lane
In practice and in preseason...NO.

I don't know if i'd say atrocious it was discouraging because I saw some things I thought we had gotten away from. That being said Milton outplayed Howell in the first two games vs one. The last game shouldn't have him be qb3.

This is a little rich as a Dak flex. If Dak hadn't looked competent in those preseason games, he is never given a chance. They would have traded for someone when Tony went down & cut him cause he was third string based on camp and only that because we spent a pick on him not because he earned it.
Well...Dak did get an earlier start to his career because of Romo and Moore's injury. And because Sanchez was washed up and was gonna be cut if Cowboys weren't down to 1 QB otherwise. And then they failed to trade for McCown. So it's a serious of fortunate events for Dak, but a 3rd stringer coming into camp as a 4th round rookie is a normal placement. He didn't have to earn that spot.

And the key difference you overlook, as usual you always do, is Dak looked like a Top 5 QB from the start, he had an excellent college career and could've taken a stab at a national title if he didn't get dragged down by his team and defense. 10 years later, Dak falls from Top 5 to Top 7. I have yet to see a credible list recently (Steven Ruiz, Athletic, ESPN) that has him below the Top 7. So yes a Top 5-7 QB unless injured Milton was gonna be cut. also Sam Howell at least has experience so he gets billing over him too. And Milton's college career was meh.

Last thing you overlooked, but not least is that nobody wanted to trade for Milton. Which means the league obviously is not taking him as much of a threat for anything feasible just yet.

Could he be a Brock Purdy or Steve Young? Maybe, but hes gonna have to bounce around a few teams for that to happen. Purdy got lucky because of injuries to people ahead of him, but most people have to bounce around several teams in order to get their first chance.

All I know, I was disappointed in him, he wasn’t throwing in the right lane. He had balls knocked down, he missed two wide open receivers, probably for touchdowns, did he come back and do well after that yeah, a little bit, but that comes down to who did they trust more, I don’t like either guy.

Why is Dak here then? 7-9-1 with all the cap money he eats up. A young QB with a stacked team is how you win sustainably. "Win now"?

This franchise is a joke.
Yeah if its win now most certainly aint' Sam Howell. Everyone just coming up with excuses for the decision. For once everyone should be able to admit it doesn't make sense until further information comes out. IF he wanted his release fine. People trying to convince me a journeyman gunslinger turnover prone player gives us a better chance to win then a guy like Joe Milton.......i'm not buying it. I think its honestly because he kind of plays like Romo. Has to be the fascination.

Just heard on 105.3 he was released??

HAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!

Eye-popping arm talent?!? And Milton has...what?

I'm good....
Not w/ reading!!!!

That was from his scouting report. From what I saw in preseason Howell has a very good arm.

Yes, Milton has a cannon, no doubt.

And you're doing it again, lying about the other guy to prop up your guy.
