Why Are We Doing This to Ourselves Again?

As exciting as it is to watch Christian Parker waltz in and try to duct-tape together a defense, we are still staring at potential black holes at inside linebacker and cornerback depth. We need one big fast injury-free guy who can actually stop the run instead of parting the Red Sea every time a halfback touches the ball, and another who can keep up with a receiver running a deep route without appearing on ESPN highlight videos.

Pittsburgh fans look at Broderick Jones and laugh, because he's essentially our version of Terence Steele and Tyler Guyton on their absolute worst Sundays. And let's be honest with ourselves: we have zero actual proof that either Steele or Guyton figured out how to block a stationary traffic cone over the offseason. Right now, our depth at swing tackle is so terrifyingly thin, Dak should sign a waiver to play.

Milton was never the answer, and Howell sure as hell isn't either. If you want a franchise quarterback, go draft one in the first round like a normal organization, because Jerry has proven time and time again he couldn't find a project quarterback if one bit him on the ***. Romo only survived because Quincy Carter was too busy hot-boxing cars, and Dak—while drafted to eventually sit behind Romo—caught lightning in a bottle so fast nobody saw it coming, least of all the front office.

The Cowboys are so thoroughly lost at building a defense that every single time a new Coach like Bill Parcells, Dan Quinn, or now Christian Parker comes to town with a grocery list, the fan base loses its collective mind. We act like we're building a dynasty when we're really just bailing water out of a sinking ship built by Jerry, a man who still somehow hasn't figured out how to field an offense and a defense at the exact same time in the salary cap era.

Here’s what I actually know:
  • We actually have a pretty damn good defensive line for a 3-4.
  • We have more depth at safety than we've had in years.
  • We have two of the best damn receivers in the entire league.
  • We have a dominant interior offensive line.
  • We have young coaches who will put in the hundred-hour weeks and actually know how to talk to players without sounding like their accountants.
So like all of you masochists, I hope this organization somehow stumbles backward into competence this year. I'm trying not to drink the Kool-Aid, but it's pretty tough not to get a little sucked in when the whole operation feels slightly different. Maybe it's just my brain desperately trying to trick me into hope again, or maybe there's actually some substance to it—either way, I'll be parked on the couch with a beer ready to find out.

All time classic.
And truthful too.
Thanks bro.

That's the reports I listen to B.Jones. Who says Milton won't be back with the Cowboys

Out of all of them Wood was probably the best. And Trigg looks to be back on the PS hopefully so…
I like Wood, but he's a box safety. He can't turn and run. He's ssllllooowww.

Im not expecting a good season but im pretty happy with what they did this offseason. Its a building year for the coaches and the defense. We will see what needs they have next offseason and if they address them properly or not. This will be a very telling season for the future chances at being a possible contender.

Desperation is a stinky cologne.

Don't worry we will get desperate and will THEN take care of the problem areas

We? Who is we? What exactly are 'we' doing to ourselves? I don't trust this organization. Haven't trusted them for 20 years, and that won't have a chance of changing until Jerry is 6 feet under.

Most fans buy into pre season hype, video hype talk show hype.

Second dallas hasnt been cometitive for 30 years.

Let the new coaches do what they want and feel they need to do. There are other factors we as fans dont know or see. It doesnt matter what the coaches , they can only go up or lateral. There is no bottom after being at the bottom for 30 years.
