Most teams have 3 QB's on their roster and or practice squad. We currently have only two, and a few teams have 4 for some odd reason.

So it is safe to say Backlip Joe is not considered a top 64 QB and possibly outside of the top 96 QB's currently in the NFL.

so his choices are be on our PS or go to some other teams PS where even his practice time between games is not guaranteed.

It isn't safe to say that and that isn't accurate.

Belichick called Jerry from the University of North Carolina to tell him he didn't want Milton?
That’s even worse. Mayo was the coach who selected him LOL . Tells you even more about the problem

I never heard a single negative spoken about the guy in his time in Dallas.
Me neither. From what I know he's been a model citizen and teammate. I think that is why I'm confused about the whole situation

Schottenheimer was very vocal about wanting to bring him back if no one claimed him if he wants to return but my guess is his agent is seeing what options are available out there first.

If he can get more money, more guaranteed money and/or a better shot at QB2 or higher eventually then it may be a better opportunity for him.
I agree. I would also throw in if Milton and Howell were truly "neck and neck" then this would be his best opportunity for a QB2 spot since he knows the offense and the players. That's why I'm surprised he didn't sign on our PS today after he cleared.

I think he's trying to pick his best option. If he only got an offer from us, I think he would have re-signed already. Must be at least one other team involved.
I'm personally rooting for him to come back so I hope Jerry outbids any other offers. I feel like with how much we invested in him I'd like to finish the job. So I'm hoping he comes back

They evidently dont want him back.
Could be they plan on drafting a QB , or getting one better than milton or howell.
I think that last PS game made them think he is never gonna get better permanently.

They already said that they want him back. I think that you don't know what your talking about.

I have to believe the Cowboys reached out to Milton the minute he cleared waivers and became a free agent. We would have heard something by now if Milton immediately wanted to be on the Cowboys' PS.

He takes a huge hit salary wise if he comes back to the practice squad. His contract was about $1.1m, practice squad about $400k.

Is there a law that says the Pokes can’t pay him a larger salary? This is one, if not the strangest, case I have ever seen regarding roster building. Why would you cut a player who has made such a remarkable leap in one year. A player with off the charts athleticism. A player that was still very raw with limited overall time as a QB. Did the Cowboys. Discover that Joseph is the illegitimate son of Deshawn Watson? Schotty is a skunk in my opinion. He raves about him for weeks and then says in building a championship roster we feel like Howell is the better backup. Well I would certainly read that as “Welcome back, Uncle Miley, we missed you.!” And no one in the press has anything?

He's gone.
I’d have to agree.

Given that he didn’t re-sign to the Cowboys practice squad immediately, I think he’s looking to go elsewhere.

Which is a shame in my opinion because he has all the tools you could possibly want in a developmental quarterback.

I really disagree with this decision, especially when your roster has guys like Carlen Carson and Drew Shelton on it.

I agree. Totally stupid decision. I wonder who was the driving force behind this. I think the coaches. If Joe is successful elsewhere, this will not sit good with Jerry.

The young man showed undeniable improvement during the preseason. At a minimum enough to where he should have stayed on the roster.

In contrast, what has Caelen Carson shown?

What has Drew Shelton shown?
