It tells me it's possible he won;t be on a team this year. But I'm not rooting for his demise to increase my perceived NFL acumen either.

I happen to think he'll land somewhere. It's poker season from these FA's all the way to trade deadline.
It hasn't even been 24 hours and the Cowboys haven't signed a qb yet.

There has to be something going on with Milton that we don’t know about.
Has to be. I can't find any logic in trading a 5 to develop him, then actually being somewhat successful and seeing obvious improvement, then cutting him. Roster constraints are one thing, but you didn't attempt to bring him back to the practice squad?

Theres more to this story...

They do want Milton on the practice squad. That's why the spot is still open.

OR the league and powers at be just don't think he's very good because frankly HE ISN'T. He had ONE(1) good pre-season game and people went nuts.

He's either weighing his options or coming grips with the fact there are no other options.

Still think he ultimately ends up on the PS here. But maybe there's more to the reports the Cowboys don't like what he's focused on off the field.

A part of me wonders if he might end up getting suspended for something at this point.

And from a quick google search it looks like it isn't a money issue since players with 2 or less accrued years have a set salary for the PS...

Posters who heavily defend Joe got it into their heads that he was one day going to replace Dak whenever he decided to hang them up. Or if he’s not extended in 2/3 years.

A couple believe he can usurp Dak and take his spot. Which is wild.

If anything, the most ideal situation was Dallas flipping Joe for some draft selections after his amazing preseason. Yet we saw Dallas tried and no one was buying.
I disagree. Many saw potential and would like to have seen him stay. People always clamoring for us to draft young qbs every year. Why? If you never keep them around, what's the point? They aren't playing as long as Dak is healthy, and until the get some real. Playing time, you never know if they can be good.

I hear ya, but he’s shown enough to at least be on a PS.

I heard that the Patriots let Milton go, because he wanted to start. Maybe, he's lobbying too hard for a bigger opportunity? If he's an alpha athlete, maybe the team considers it too much of a distraction? That's the picture the Patriots were painting. Milton thought he was competing with Maye, not backing him up. Anyone else hear about that scenario with Milton?

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, but I'm a little surprised.

There's seemingly nothing anyone should be waiting on... on Milton's side nor on any given team's side... for this episode to come to its conclusion one way or another. You've all had ample opportunity by now to assess whether you think a 2026 commitment to this player... or from the other side of the table, whether you think a 2026 commitment to this team... is in your best interests.

Maybe I'm missing something. But what could it be? Dunno. Makes no sense. If you're going to go somewhere else, don't you want to dive into their playbook ASAP... and likewise, if you're going to sign up a new QB even if only for your PS, don't you want him to have fullest opportunity to dive into your playbook ASAP, and for that matter, for whoever is getting bumped off your PS to have ample opportunity just out of common courtesy to find a new home? Surely I'm missing something (???).
