I like this approach.

But I will say “things have changed” when it’s reflected consistently on the scoreboard. This team looks so much better than last year, for sure.

The difference between “looks better” and “is better” happens between Sept 13th through the end of the season. Until then, I will just say “looks better”.

And Cowboys fans are so desperate for any sign of success after 3 decades of disappointment and frustration.

I’m not here to whizz on the parade but we’ve seen this level of hype before. No wonder our fanbase is so bashed around the league. We just can’t help ourselves I guess.

It will be an incredible story and we can all discuss if it pans out. But man, some fans just can’t wait already crowning us and could make fools of us all. Lol

I’d argue Howell out performed him. Also as Reality provided in his excellent thread Howell signed a guaranteed 2.5 million contract I bet most weren’t aware of. I certainly wasn’t .

And Blue never met expectations . It happens. I thought he had potential and I followed him at Texas but he had some issues and concerns there . And it was always thought we’d be looking for another RB after cuts.

I’m not sure either of these cuts provide a new change in leadership or culture. Again sounds more like fans hype for hope .

Yep , obviously his big play potential was there with his speed. Maybe we didn’t know how to utilize it .

In other words, it’s not just how fast, athletic, or how big your arm is…it’s about bringing your lunch pail every day to practice, being on time, and showing a commitment to the film room, and being committed to being a true professional.

If true, Schotty is setting a good standard. And also reminding us fans that what we see in a PS game or TC practice is not everything the coaches are looking at.

It has been very clear that Schotty punishes guys starting with Trevon Diggs and that any Jerry interference has all but died off.
Schotty gives Jerry public platitudes than sets about running the team the right way in actual decision making.
It is a good culture shift to be sure.
I will not at all be surprised if wins start to follow.

On talkin cowboys they were saying on Milton that who else were they going to cut for the RB? They don't think they were going to touch the defense so when you look at the offense you go Camden Brown or Joe Milton..........well sorry Joe.

With Blue, it was pretty clear based on things Schotty said last year that he had to work on. The word “immature” was used by someone too.

Blue probably has 2nd-3rd round talent in some areas of his game. But the reason he lasted to round 5 was the finer points of being a pro. Even his draft profile from the 2025 combine listed some of his weaknesses that hurt him a lot…here’s some excerpts from his nfl draft profile:

Overview​

Blue played behind very good backs, so his carry count is lower, but he clearly has talent. He’s a narrow-hipped, linear runner with good speed to threaten wide and attack downfield out of the backfield. He has adequate wiggle in the open field but lacks base strength to break tackles. Blue’s lack of tempo and vision inside gets him behind schedule and could limit how teams use him as a ball-carrier. While he can be labeled a “change-of-pace slasher,” his real value will revolve around his ability to mismatch linebackers and threaten defenses as a receiver out of the backfield.

Weaknesses​

• Lacks tempo and processing quickness as a runner.
• Runs too small inside and accepts the contact.
• Fumble rate will be frowned upon.
• Will have drops on off-frame throws.
• Mental mistakes in protection caused sacks.

All of these weaknesses hurt him. That last bullet - his inability to pass block is a killer. A back who isn’t good at picking up blitzers won’t play. It’s that simple. Schotty isn’t going to risk the starting QBs backside to guy who can’t block.

Its very telling especially because this team really doesn't want Malik to be the #2 and so they brought in Demeartwato to compete for the job.

They really wanted to develop Blue but its beyond obvious that he was weak between the ears and lacking in football heart so they had to give up on him

I know zip about Milton, but if he also has a lack of professionalism like it seems Blue showed, then it very well could only be a stay of execution.

Even so, he is getting a second shot and if he wants an NFL career, he had better make the most of it.

Last paragraph is a great point.

We criticize moves, but there’s plenty we don’t know. In fact it’s probably in the 80-90% range.

We also laugh at “changing the culture,” but things like this just might be doing that in essence. We just figure we know everything because Jerry can’t shut his mouth, but just maybe Shoddy and staff knows how to handle the situation. Wouldn’t that be fun?

Milton really improved but man he had a low bar. I am glad Howell is the backup. I also think it's worth it to see if Milton can continue to improve.

Away from that do people understand that Shottenheimer isn't Joe Gibbs?

Apparently Shotty is the second coming with a 7-10 record. I’ve read as much from fans how this new culture is bringing us back to championship contention.

Some things never change. If only we could bring up some threads on how McCarthy with his experience and proven success was taking us back to the promise land . At least he had the credentials.

Our fanbase is so desperate . We are left with crowning ourselves champions before the season begins instead of waiting until afterwards. Same ole hype to me .

i think the coaches should just be honest about that.

It’s not that they’re a problem child. It’s that they’re not good enough to justify any perceived character or work ethic issues.

Jimmy was very open and honest about star players getting star treatment. He didn’t pretend or lie to the media about wanting to hold players accountable to build a culture or anything like that.

He said openly he would bring Troy a pillow if he fell asleep in a meeting lol

Things have changed in Dallas. Schotty is setting expectations, holding players accountable, and demanding that everyone live up to them. And honestly, it’s about damn time.
