ESPN Final Preseason Power Ranking

I for one am glad to see this. I hate it when they hype up Dallas pre-season. And there has been soooo much national hype about Dallas the past couple of weeks. Many times that kind of hype goes to your head and you think you're better than you are.
So maybe hearing this, and how the media actually feels about them, can bring them back to reality and hopefully light a fire in their bellies to prove them wrong.

Packers, Eagles, and Chargers are not better than the Cowboys, in my opinion. Other than that this list is hard to argue with. I would put Dallas 12th.
Although it pains me to say it the Eagles are definitely better.

I don’t know how that’s possible, patriot did not look good during the preseason. Neither did the Eagles. I haven’t watched the other teams so I don’t know
Eagles looked bad for a few reasons. Sirianni never cared about winning preseason games, and their backup QB's are just bad. IDK what happened to McKee, and I LOL at Andy Dalton. He looks more cooked than day old KCF. I'm a bit surprised that Roseman didn't go after Will Levis.

Exactly, so I don’t know how they can come up with this rating
That’s why I was watching, Andy Dalton, LMAO, he should just go home and play with his kids or something

...incoming mini-rant

I wish ESPN would have used a similar format like they always use for positional fantasy football like this. The reader knows who the sport 'expert' is and can determine how their individual opinions selected whatever is being ranked. Then the reader can consider which expert or experts' opinion seem most logical based on the material being evaluated. That way, the reader can judge for themselves how well the overall ranking was constructed via a consensus vote.

ESPN cannot follow their own methodology, though. Instead, they tell the reader, "To form the list, our power panel of more than a dozen NFL analysts evaluates how all 32 teams stack up against one another, ranking them from No. 1 to 32." It would be nice knowing who the so-called analysts are. Perhaps read up or recall their opinions on the subject matter in the past. Maybe gauge their expertise a little bit.

Nope. Super-secret agent folks rank 32 NFL teams. The consensus vote is Dallas at 15th.

Which analysts had Cowboys ranked above 15th? Below 15th? How did certain individual opinions (because no two people think exactly the same) push the consensus vote up or down the ranking? Who knows? Not the readers for sure. Well, ESPN--the Entertainment Sports Programming Network--certainly knows.

Apparently, nobody told ESPN that the Eagles suffered a massive decline in the past year and the Cowboys will have the division locked up before Thanksgiving.
Philly has been an ESPN and media darling team for the past 25 years.
Just like Jackson and the Ravens have been since he was drafted.

Meh. Everyone has an opinion. Coming off last year we can't argue much until we prove otherwise
True, but ESPN used NFL analysts. Their reputations make their opinions logical and rock solid.

Of course, no one but ESPN knows who the voters are. Their opinions may or may not be any considered any more valid than those posted here on CowboysZone. Their reputations may not be worth anything.

When you have the best QB (top 3) in football, 13th is a surprising spot. They must have lost faith in the Chiefs.

My understanding these rankings are based on what we’ve seen this year and what we’ve seen last year. Then as the season goes on you will see slides and risers. I don’t think this is about how good you think these guys will be. I’d never vote against Andy or Mahomes honestly.

Few teams too high, or just a little too high. Can shuffle 4 or 5 around in any order and be about the same.
A few too low as well.

Middle of the pack for Dallas. May be about right as still unknown what the real Defesne will do, or how they will be. Maybe a little low by a few spots. But no more than a few.
It will be fun to compare BSPN’s prediction to the final rankings.

I still believe the Hawks are the team to beat.

Everyone knows that the health of the team and quality backups plays a huge role. jmo
