Tony Romo statement

I knew you'd be back
You can't even see how your choice to start with this is exactly the same thing as you are criticizing Romo for? Additionally, you were thinking of me and others as you posted that? Must be since "you knew" I'd be back. No agenda in that post though...

As far as your other 3 points. I didn't address them because they are pure opinion. You choose to interpret things the way you wish. Nothing I or anyone says is going to sway your opinion. There are other very justifiable takes on those points but why bother when it's all opinion and can't be validated with facts. You've got an axe to grind and boy howdy it's going to get ground.

The only thing of any substance at all that can be pointed to is track record. If Romo has a history of insincerity and manipulation please point it out.

Your 4th point has nothing to do with Romo and is only a criticism of posters.

Oh course his statement was worded in part to manage perception. I mean DUH! That doesn't mean it wasn't also a sincere accounting of the situation and his role in it.

I noticed you didn't address the points I made in my rebuttal. Wonder why.

Let me ask you this. How on earth is it beneficial to Romo's public perception to bring his opioid addiction and alcohol problem to light when he could have framed things as a one time lapse in judgement? What sense does that make?

So if his statement was "worded in part to manage perception" would that lead some to believe that the statement lacked sincerity? I mean, that was the actual question at hand, remember? Here, let me quote it here for you again since you skipped over it the moment you saw "MarcusRock" and went into foaming-at-the-mouth mode:

There was no statement he was going to give that wouldn't get picked apart through a lens of cynicism. I mentioned earlier that I was wondering what he could have said, that would sound like a sincere apology and him owning the situation, that wouldn't sound like a PR team was involved. Didn't get much of a response...
See the bold? You just told me it sounded like a PR team was involved - "manage perception," as you said. Agenda, you say? No kidding.

And you didn't disprove anything I said to boot. The BACs were just made public so they had a statement ready for when that happened. The arrest was in July. For a month they knew Romo had drinks before driving. They knew Romo had lied to police. On camera. If you knew it then, own it then and say you'll fully accept what gets handed down. Now after time passes and you hope people forgot you have a statement to "manage perception," and include the struggle of dealing with back pain that made him turn to drinking? I said why that was included. Read it instead of letting those "10 letters of terror" confirm your being a fanboi with your "gotcha this time" behavior.

Last time you told me, "I've only ever talked to you 2 times on here" before I proved you didn't. What will you say next time, fanboi? Because we all know there will be a next time. You can't help yourself. Lol.

Are you having a stroke? Fanboi? I feel like you've got me mixed up with someone else. I'm just saying i doubt there was much that he could have said, at any time, that wouldn't have people thinking a PR team was involved? Was there a team involved? Yeah probably, but it wouldn't have mattered if there was or not because that is what the public will assume anyway.

Lol. Sorry, not addressed to you. Should have removed your name. Was re-using your quote to make a point about the actual question involved and not the fanboi side chatter someone else was trying to make it into.

I think if he had said some semblance of this after the videos got out, it would hold more weight, at least with me. After he and his lawyer first talked, they both knew he'd been drinking and driving and that he lied about it to police. Just say something about "error in judgement," "we'll accept what happens," "I'll do better in the future." But when there's a 9-figure salary involved and you mention said employer in all your statements, it'll cast a little doubt about personal sincerity, you know?

I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere, but if Romo has "constant, debilitating pain" as described in his statement.....

Why play golf? Or more specifically, why play golf knowing the pain would lead to drinking before he had to drive home? Just adds another layer of "avoidable" to this whole incident.

Wow. The axe will be ground!

Every single one of us manages our words with regards to perception. Likely every single day. It is very possible to both manage our words and be completely sincere. Happens every single day for every single one of us.

Not one single one of us would publically admit to a crime before being charged with that crime. Some of us would immediately show remorse when the evidence came out (like Romo did) and some wouldn't.

The public wouldn't even know he had "turned to drinking" if he didnt tell us in that statement. Like i said, he could have easily played this off as a one time mistake but he publically admitted to a long time opioid addiction and a long time alcohol problem. What PR team on the planet would draw attention to serious problems that didn't need to be talked about? It's ludicrous to think they would. Clearly it's not even working if in fact it even happened.

As far as foaming at the mouth. That's funny. Despite your drama queening it up the fact is our interactions are few and far between. Clearly they impact you far more than they do me. What a strange thing to bring up.

I sincerely didn't mean to trigger you like that.

Just be glad Tony didn't kill himself or someone else. It could have been so much worse. I've delt with back pain. It's something that never really goes away. I feel sorry for him in that regard.. The only thing I'm mad about is he needed to call someone to drive him. No excuse for driving drunk and he has enough money to hire anybody.
It's hard to say which he has more of money or pride.

Pride goeth before the fall.
If he called someone to drive him he would have to admit to his wife his grandparents where he was going that he drank too much.

Because somebody's going to ask why were you driven here where is your car there's going to be questions he didn't want to go through it.

So he took the risk but while taking the risk he got a little too cocky and impatient after a bad day at golf and made an ill advised pass and that's all it took to totally destroy an 18 million dollar job.

As far as Tony's sincerity goes I don't know I'm not in his head.

He definitely said a lot that he didn't need to say.

And I wonder if his and his lawyers line of thinking was if he said he had an opioid and alcohol problem admitted to it that he could go to rehab and get his job back with CBs whose name he mentioned a couple times.

That said I have no idea of the legalities involved but maybe if it was just a one-time thing he wouldn't have the option to get his job back.

Definitely not sure not an expert just spitballing here.

The whole question I responded to was about his statement not sounding like PR was part of it in regards to his sincerity, fanboi. Then you proceeded to agree with me that PR was part of it. So what the hell are you arguing? That you "got me," right? Oh, but did you? This is where most would just slink away stage left. Lol.

You can pretend you don't follow my posts looking for an "ah-ha, gotcha!" all you want. We discussed this last time when you lied about how many times you'd attempted this very thing in the past, remember? Shall I dig that up? Or how about that first time you interjected in one of my discussions and made that very telling revelation about yourself when I had zero impression of you before then? Shall I dig that up? I told you you'd do it again and now you have. Again. A lot of your posts here go after certain people. Following around is what fanbois do. Triggered? Not me, dude. I don't go on the attack when I see certain posters' names and look for something to call them on, yet agree with them at the same time. See? Telling on yourself again. Lol.

So, see you again next time?

I literally quoted you and responded to the specific quote of your actual words. I did not agree with you. I acknowledged that obviously there was some word management, like we all do. I pushed back on your assertion that it was PR driven and insincere. Clearly there are some comprehension issues going on here.

Please dig that exchange from what, at least last season, up. Sure bro. I'm out to get you with my annual interactions with you. Holy victim mentality Batman.

A lot of your posts here go after certain people. Following around is what fanbois do.
There is a very small number here who get my attention. They all have something in common. Sometimes I can't help myself. It's a guilty pleasure getting you guys to expose yourselves. Nothing to be proud of but no harm either. This is hilarious coming from a guy who is all over any and all posters who criticize the officiating.

I had zero impression of you before then?
Yet you both then and again now are bringing up stuff that has nothing to do with topic being discussed, or even you personally. Quite clearly, you have an impression. You fanbois you.
I don't go on the attack when I see certain posters' names and look for something to call them on
Wait. I just read that you had no impression of me. Yet you are tracking my interactions? You're making less and less sense as this goes on. When I respond to anyone I respond to the post, not the poster.

You've done pretty much nothing here but attempt to paint yourself as a victim. You offered to make your case that I am looking for your name to respond in an attempt to "got ya". Ok. Do it! Produce the receipts. (will he make an excuse or just go silent?)

What's really going on here is that you have no reasonable response to the points I made so you go straight to victim mode and ad hominem bs. I responded to a direct quote from you and somehow, we ended up here. I'm sure you had nothing to with that, though. You're just the victim here.

I don't go on the attack when I see certain posters' names and look for something to call them on, yet agree with them at the same time. See? Telling on yourself again.
Oh the irony. Since I don't do that it seems that you sir are the one telling on yourself, again.
So, see you again next time?
Well, since you ask so nicely.... sure. lol

Me: all the reasons why it looked like PR was involved in Romo's statement that could lead to doubt of sincerity

You:
Oh course his statement was worded in part to manage perception. I mean DUH!
Also you:
I did not agree with you.

Noted on the receipts. I'll pull then when I have the time but I may wait a month like Romo's team. By then you'll be due, if you know what I mean. Lol.

The three things aren’t mutually exclusive:

He can be trying to save his job, managing perception, while truly being sorry.

That being said, I have zero sympathy for people driving while intoxicated, considering the threat it poses to so many innocent people.

I would think that he would have to be trying to save his job and his lawyers are probably instructing him the best way to do so.

18 million a year is a lot to lose.

He's definitely saying a lot of things he doesn't really need to say and I don't know if that's good for managing perception or not.

I do think he's sorry that he's drug his family into this and now looks bad in their eyes.

Is he really sorry he drove drunk probably not really

I think he got to the point he viewed it as part of life managing his pain.

My son-in-law's sister was killed by a drunk driver who had three DUIs so I don't really have to go into where my tolerance level is.

I know why he did it I don't think he started out being addicted to pain pills or alcohol I think his back pain took him there like a lot of people with sports related injuries.

That said Tony has always been a risk taker he never had a grasp on risk versus reward in his playing days and the spots haven't changed on that leopard.

I think he drove over the limit so many times it became totally commonplace and he just figured it was no problem making it to his grandparents.

Exactly like in his playing days he took that chance to make that pass at just the wrong time

Now just like in his playing days it could be something that can't be overcome and his job will be lost just like games were lost.

I agree (and by default so does Vtwin, lol). That's why I used the term "reasonable doubt." It doesn't totally shut out the possibility of other factors being true. I just see a lot of one of the factors someone asked about.

I absolutely would for the money.

Are you saying wouldn't do likewise for the money? You're a liar if you say no.

Romo isn't special, and neither is any other athlete when it comes to playing through pain. ANYONE of us would do it too because the money is just too good.

Stop putting these guys on a pedestal, and worshiping them as gods. They are no different than other humans. They are just good at playing a specific game.
I guess you haven't felt much pain in your life, by the sounds of it. Puncture lung, no biggie. Emmitt playing with a separated shoulder, you can do that. I have not respect for fakes like you.

Now you're just flat out embarrasing yourself. Same Temu logic you used to form your opinion on Romo's statement. Different post, same pattern.

We both know you ain't pulling nothing. If you could, you would have. It's ridiculously easy to have your preferred AI platform search the forum for pretty much anything. It would take you about one minute to backup your ridiculous notions. Smart money is that you tried and found out you were flat out wrong about all that too and chose this route to avoid owning your childish behavior.

Fits the pattern to a T.

LOL, Americas you know you are a stone cold fool (good one) for this. LOL, leave Blue alone he is very consistent and no one gets to him to make him change (if he replies to you, you know what’s coming). Like that about him.
Well I know about 1/3 of what's coming. Unfortunately I dont have the attention span or concentration to read the other 2/3rds of his rebuttal. Thats a joke, but also true. Lol
