Jesse Holley lays out why Blue and Milton got the ax

I like this approach.

But I will say “things have changed” when it’s reflected consistently on the scoreboard. This team looks so much better than last year, for sure.

The difference between “looks better” and “is better” happens between Sept 13th through the end of the season. Until then, I will just say “looks better”.
As I mentioned in your separate thread, for me it comes down to the difference between “trust” and “confidence”

I trust that the cowboys, particularly the coaches, are more of a meritocracy than in the past, but I’m not confident that it will yield success in the win-loss column

Let’s be honest. It’s because they’re middling players.

If they were superstars, they would still be on the team.

Exhibit A: George Pickens
Not even middling players. They're both projects. Garrett used to make the same "professionalism" roster churn when he was cutting bottom of the barrel players like this. It has nothing to do with professionalism. They're just not good.

Milton and Blue are not the same.

They didn't even want Blue on the practice squad.
Lot of Blue fans here that are laying low for a while after the flaming they did anyone who dared question whether he would amount to anything

Yep. This time, I agree with Holley. Professionalism. Consistency. Accountability. Adulthood. We don’t have time for anything less.

Things have changed in Dallas. Schotty is setting expectations, holding players accountable, and demanding that everyone live up to them. And honestly, it’s about damn time.
Haven't seen this since the Tuna.

Milton is back with the team...
I think they felt he would clear waivers. I think they wanted him back. Don’t think they thought blue would be back and really didn’t care. His shoes last year didn’t sit well

The difference is the Rams and Seahawks have already shown to be "better" and if one of them wasn't the reigning champions, consensus thinks the other would have been last season. Then the Rams went out and tried to improve upon a team that was almost good enough last season. What were we doing playoff time last season or the 29 seasons before? That's why we "need to see it," you know?
Point is this l, this season hasn't been played yet, and non of those teams rams, Seahawks, texans etc, are promised a good season this year.

The fall and rise of teams yearly is a real thing in case you didn't know.

It definitely seems like Schotty has more clear control of player/personnel this year. After the debacle last year with Jerry's buddy on Defense and Schotty's offense being tier 1, maybe Jerry cried "Uncle" a little bit? I think it is a good thing but I remain skeptical for obvious reasons (30+ years).

Yes, but why are you incredulous at people wanting to see the Cowboys do something and include them in the same sentence as teams who have done something most recently? The Cowboys are way more on the "you gotta show me" side of the fence than those teams. That's my question.

Calling bs. He was frothing at the mouth to play Parsons, every snap of every game after his antics last year until the mom he was traded.

It's always a cultural thing for last few roster slots though.

It's a new season, everyone is on that side

Think of any player that the Cowboys traded for and then turned around and traded to another team.

Did the Cowboys ever get anything better than what they initially gave up for him?

Joe Milton, Amari Cooper, just off the top of my head. What does that say about the ability to measure talent and impact in the game?

You can have professional Malik Davis. I'll take elite burst Jaydon Blue.
The problem with Blue is he showed he cannot be trusted to pass protect correctly. He can’t be trusted to hit it hard between the tackles, looking for the HR. If the defense knows you are only going to run outside and catch screens and swing passes, they know what to expect when you are in the game. The new RB gives them everything Blue didn’t. By Oct, I expect him to be the #2 over Davis.

This.

Everyone is looking for a reason Milton was cut.
Try this one. First, while he has more arm strength and size, he was still the third best QB on the roster. For consistency, timing, reading the defense and getting the ball out quickly to the right guys, accuracy, playing from the pocket, and NFL experience, I want Howell as my backup QB. Period.

Milton had 2 good preseason games against backups playing vanilla defenses, and those games featured him scrambling and making big plays, not him reading the defense and getting the ball out quickly to the right guys. One is a great play in the moment; the other that he did not do is what is sustainable to keep the offense moving. Then he reverted to last year’s Milton in game 3, needlessly firing lasers on short throws, inaccuracy, and sailing throws over the middle and down the seam.

Parker is the new guy. Would I want to keep a developmental QB over a CB like Carson? Yes, but they were not going to mess with Parker’s side of the ball. On offense, it was cut your 4th round OT rookie or WR Brown for a backup QB. The Cowboys made the right choice when the theme has been competition and win now. The third string QB is simply not very important.

And I’m not buying the crap about teams already had their QB rooms set. Rosters across the NFL change a lot over the weeks leading up to the first game and up to the trade deadline. Teams constantly churn the bottom of the roster. If any team trusted what they’d seen from Milton and thought he was better than the third or even 4th QB on their roster, do you really think they wouldn’t have made that move. Why not? It wasn’t even a trade or a free agency bid. All 31 teams could have supposedly improved their QB rooms with a physically talented QB for nothing but a simple claim. Why didn’t they?

George Pickens, shows up every single day, even without a contract,
He’s not a good example for your narrative
