Broderick Jones' nugget about his struggles

He injured his neck in week 10.
Prior to the injury he had a PFF of 57 and 6 sacks in 600 plus snaps.
Steele had a PFF of 63 and 6 sacks in 1200 snaps.
How exactly is that better?
Jones has a chance to get better
Steele can only get worse

Jones was a bust before neck fusion surgery.
From all accounts he was a walking disaster in camp in preseason.
Cornelius has a much better chance of taking over that position!

It seems that they brought Wanya Morris to the practice squad as a backup left tackle while they try to develop Shelton.
Broaddus and Voch hated the Shelton pick. Looks like they were right…at least so far.

Hopefully he's our RT next year, he's better than Steele. He had a pinched nerve, they did fusion, he can come back stronger then before.
I'm hoping it's this year. We've got a monster line but once again the right tackle is the weakness and he might even be worse than Free was. I've never seen such a drop off after tearing an acl. I think it might have something to do with the second contract he signed. That's been a big problem here for years.

And yet that video says he has the ability to turn the corner and get coached up have a second chance I remember when Sam Darnold was a bust you remember that guy that's got a Super Bowl ring on now everybody says he couldn't play in this league geno Smith resurrected his career hell Milton Malik Willis these guys are resurrecting their careers i've seen guys come from other teams allegedly had issues and guess what They're not a bust they're a project they're developmental but he's beyond that he's got the body the skill set I heard that about Guyton there were some people that want to get rid of Guyton the last 2 seasons and he's starting to turn the corner..

He’s simply embracing what the coach said. The head coach told him he’s a right side T, told Steele and the media he’s here to compete at RT. So what’s he supposed to say? Steele is the starting RT. I don’t expect to see anything of Jones until maybe Oct at the earliest.
Also underrated is the idea that one can just switch sides with ease. I don’t believe that at all.

I never played, but I’m very left handed, and I couldn’t imagine trying to block an edge rusher with my non dominant side.

Now, similar to baseball players who can switch hit, some don’t have a problem moving sides. I can fully see how that could be. I can hit lefty naturally, but I can’t even think about swinging the bat right handed. Yes, different sports, but the same humans are playing it.

Bothers me a little saying that he is more comfortable on the left. Guyton said the same. I wonder if either or both are very dominantly left handed. That’s where the answer probably lies.

Steele has shown he is at his ceiling, this kid has a higher ceiling but right now sitting on the floor

Switch hitting is tough especially if after thousands of at bats from one side and then your mind and muscles are working against each other on the other side until the muscle memory is built up.

Agreed.

Swapping sides is not a big deal for someone that their job is to play football.
Well it has been a challenge for Guyton to switch sides. This year 3 and I trust Schotty's current evaluation of him.

Sure. Theres a lot of dominant side things going on as well.

Most of us know that our non-dominant side is just kind of there. It’s not just the hand or arm, it’s the entire side that’s dominant, and if you’re extreme in that regard, you may not be able adjust.

Many figure if you can play LT you can slot easily into RT. I don’t believe that. Some can, some can’t. Some can’t play either lol.

Good info, I believe that was the issue for him them moving him around and not settling in on one position first, which would’ve gotten him settled broken into the nfl.
But they instead moved him around never letting him get locked in, into the nfl.

I believe we got him here to take over the RT spot, and only that spot, and the guy we got from KC will be the swing guy.
