Actually more concern about the offense!

Through years of futility, I think some of you have been understandably stricken with Pathological Doubt.

While you may have Steele concerns, consider the growth that’s taken place by an already very good interior triumvirate, and the strides that are believed to have been taken by Guyton. Should be no dip in the WR room. The RB room, although not dynamic, should compliment the passing game well enough. And, the QB is still in his window and can run this in his sleep.

If you wanted to spy anything, make it the TE group. Ferg’s YAC has dropped every year and last year his depth/target was very shallow w/his YPC being less than any Jason Witten 3-yard out mocked season w/the Cowboys (his #’s did dip with the Raiders). But, no worries, BSF will step up if Ferg’s #’s fall off.

Verdict = Easy top 10 offense and barring injury most-likely top 5 once again. If the D can be in the top half of the league, it will get very interesting in Dallas.
I don’t think Ferg is a problem.

He keeps going to Pro Bowls.

IF they can effectively pass block for the entire regular season this team could be a tough playoff team.
IF not, they won't be.

i’ve said it a hundred times, Tyler Smith should be our LT, we have plenty of capable guards to fill LG, you put Guyton to RT or at worst have a competion for RT

Defense doesn't translate year-to-year, offense - specifically passing offense - does.

If the offense isn't dragged down by such a poor defense, it will actually be better.

The defense being so bad did two things:
  1. Never gave any short fields. Dallas was, I think, dead last in drives starting in opponents' territory and had poor starting field position.
  2. Forced the offense into being one dimensional. Doesn't matter how good the offense is if they can't be balanced.
People do not realize how much this offense was held down by the defense.

It is pretty galaxy brained for the offense to be a bigger concern.

Starting field position, was such a big factor, compared to the opposing team, but people don’t wanna hear that,
Even with special teams, starting field position, we were horrible

Defense only has to win two games for us, and then we win the division in my opinion

Teams are going to gameplan against Lamb/Pickens, players like Ferguson/Flournoy are going to need to be effective.
Ferguson is effective. But he's not long range target or big on YAC at TE. Flournoy is a good #3. Everyone is going to have to be effective.

Tyler is an average tackle but an elite guard. Larry Allen could of played tackle, but he became a hall of fame guard

He used to be a yac receiver now he has turned into an old version of Witten. Catch go down

I think what you saw in Jake Ferguson reception wise last season is what he is. A high catch, low ypc TE that is consistent, a good leader and has a huge connection with his QB. Solid blocker as well. I like Span Ford's upside and that's where the improvement at the TE position will come from.
You just described Witten and people want to put him in the HOF.

Kind of crazy, with the defense being historically bad last season, I am actually worried more about the offense:

-Tackle position scares me to death. I do like the addition of Jones, but the position can potentially wreck the season
-Slow starts. They cannot take a quarter off to get it going. Cannot be shut out in a half.
-Inability to finish drives. Lack of execution, penalties, turnover, drops, play calling.
-Have to become more aggressive in going for it on 4th downs, settle too much for long FG's.
-Need more production in the passing game from the TE position. Ferguson has to start connecting with the seam routes.
-depth at running back, Williams wore down in the 2nd half of last season, don't trust our depth behind him
-Have to be more competitive against the elite teams
No reason to worry about the offense. At the end of the day if Dak is healthy we know its top 10. Or should be. Bad tackles and all. Now this whole "Greatest OF ALL TIME" or whatever they're saying that might be in jeopardy.

BUt I mean even look at what you're saying. Your concern is slow starts and depth. On defense we don't even know what we have in starters. We are probably comfortable at DT But every other position is scary.

This is a cool talking point.

We were tied for 4th in attempts on 3rd down
We we 3rd in successful attempts

I didn't do a distance comparison but t is also important t recognize that Aubrey is a weapon and we shouldn't just abandon him.

You can be worried about a regression on the offense, but to be MORE WORRIED about it is silly. Even if they fall off 15 spots, they are still better than the defense last year.

The defense needs MASSIVE improvement to just be average.

I do think we try too many long FG instead of going for it.

If we were as deadly of an offense as some say....shouldn't be a problem. You march the ball right down their throat.

I mean...come on, right? A "top five offense"...but only when it's easy?

The FACT is both (all three) aspects of the game determine things. If the offense is really good, they're in the best position to do something about it. Offense is for OFFENSIVE. Defense is for on the defensive. Your suppose to have more control of the game being on the offensive.

If your so-called potent offense averages 7-10 pts in the first half...somethign is wrong.

the OT issues are gonna be the death of this offense - aside from a unimaginable Dak big injury.

- Don't trust Guyton or Steele, and the backup comes down to Broderick Jones - and is it in stone that he is a RT only, or can he effectively
served as LT if he is forced to ?

- Rookie Drew Shelton is AWful, i'm fearing this may be a wasted pick. So who else do we have that could be helpful ?

- Will it get to a point to where we could be forced to swith Tyler Smith outside to LT, in a break glass dire emergency ?

I think you go to bed after eating a nice Ribeye steak, having sex with Halle Berry, and you layin bed saying.....tonight really sucked.

Our offense, that was very good last year, returned all 11 starters. In addition, our skilled back ups are better. How did Dak stay healthy last year with our horrible tackle? I expect this offense to be even better.

I think with a different QB maybe the offense is a little more open with a QB that has more athletic abilities than Dak does to use his legs and create plays down there. Not a knock on Dak but just a thought. The offense does struggle and all the points listed were valid concerns!

My biggest fear is that the offense won't be as good as it was last year, which means our defense hopefully is better because we never seem to be consistent on offense and defense in the same game!

If the defense gets stops and the offense can't score touchdowns then what's the point!?? Field goals are ok but I want the ball in the end zone
Wouldnt you expect Pickens to be even more comfortable in year 2 with Dak? Wouldnt you expect Guyton and Beebe, entering year 3, to be better? Wouldnt you expect Booker to be better in season2? There is no way that Flournoy isnt entering this season with more confidence and more ability to be a positive impact on this team than last year? Same with Spann-Ford.

I just dont know how you could possibly be worried about the offense. If Dak goes down.... all bets are off. As is the same with basically every team in the NFL.
