Kind of crazy, with the defense being historically bad last season, I am actually worried more about the offense:

-Tackle position scares me to death. I do like the addition of Jones, but the position can potentially wreck the season
-Slow starts. They cannot take a quarter off to get it going. Cannot be shut out in a half.
-Inability to finish drives. Lack of execution, penalties, turnover, drops, play calling.
-Have to become more aggressive in going for it on 4th downs, settle too much for long FG's.
-Need more production in the passing game from the TE position. Ferguson has to start connecting with the seam routes.
-depth at running back, Williams wore down in the 2nd half of last season, don't trust our depth behind him
-Have to be more competitive against the elite teams

I think with a different QB maybe the offense is a little more open with a QB that has more athletic abilities than Dak does to use his legs and create plays down there. Not a knock on Dak but just a thought. The offense does struggle and all the points listed were valid concerns!

My biggest fear is that the offense won't be as good as it was last year, which means our defense hopefully is better because we never seem to be consistent on offense and defense in the same game!

If the defense gets stops and the offense can't score touchdowns then what's the point!?? Field goals are ok but I want the ball in the end zone

I don’t think it’s that crazy. This offense was very good last year but had some legitimate issues in 2025. In addition to what’s on the OPs list already is turnovers as the year went on. Just 6 turnovers through the first 7 weeks of the season, 15 from week 8 til the end of the season as teams adjusted.

This offense should still be very good, but it will be difficult to duplicate the 2025 final numbers. Some regression with this group should probably be expected as the defensive numbers improve.

Agree. Ferguson and Guyton are the keys along with Span Fords ability to help the tackles with his blocking. I do think with Jones and the Oklahoma practice squad tackle the depth on their offensive line is better. Don’t sleep on the running back pickup. Demarcardo is more talented than Davis and fits the scheme.

Lot of weak areas, but many teams are similar.
They do have to do better this season, and be more consistent.
And wouldnt it be nice if not so many penaltys !

You mean the top 5 offense from last year that is returning every starter?
-Tackle position scares me to death. the position can potentially wreck the season
Oh brother. This again? They are a better group than last year. Tell me, when was the last time the OT's wrecked a season?

I have said many times before that to assume the offense will be just as good as last year because they have all 11 starters returning is a mistake. That rarely happens in the NFL.

But, on the flip side, if they can clean up their red zone issues I think they can be even more effective, without having all the "stats".
What I mean is they moved the ball for a ton of yds last year and they did score a lot of points at times. But they struggled a lot as well, especially inside the 10 yd line. They also settled for a lot of long FGs for a lot of their points.
If they can be more efficient with their possessions, scoring more TD's when they get the chance to do so, they can be more effective as an offense. Possibly without all the super yardage stats to go with it.
Does that makes any sense? I hope I got my thoughts through good enough.

I think what you saw in Jake Ferguson reception wise last season is what he is. A high catch, low ypc TE that is consistent, a good leader and has a huge connection with his QB. Solid blocker as well. I like Span Ford's upside and that's where the improvement at the TE position will come from.

when was the last time someone somewhere blew past an overmatched Tackle and ended the QBs season?

When was the last time that happened with Guyton and Steele?

That's the only thing that matters.

Over a month ago I said the same.

Somehow, the offense is a larger concern. I guess that’s belief in how this defense is going to work out, and add in the OT situation.

Defense doesn't translate year-to-year, offense - specifically passing offense - does.

If the offense isn't dragged down by such a poor defense, it will actually be better.

The defense being so bad did two things:
  1. Never gave any short fields. Dallas was, I think, dead last in drives starting in opponents' territory and had poor starting field position.
  2. Forced the offense into being one dimensional. Doesn't matter how good the offense is if they can't be balanced.
People do not realize how much this offense was held down by the defense.

It is pretty galaxy brained for the offense to be a bigger concern.

I have zero concerns about the offense because it's the same one from last year that you're trying to criticize. And they were a top five offensive most categories, top seven in scoring. And even though their red zone scoring was off a little bit, I've already had this discussion with you and a bunch of other people months ago. If they're scoring from outside the red zone, it's still scoring. If you're top seven in scoring, that's a big deal. And they did it with no short fields, no help from the defense, no help from the special teams. This was pure offense. So think about that. There are teams out there that had higher rankings though, but they were handed a lot of short fields. They were handed also free scores from the defense. We've seen that in the past. Cowboys function pretty well, but it was a mirage this Cowboys offered from last year did it all on their own.

Think about this. All this. And the defense is new that they're going to get you behind early, and you're pretty much going to have to throw the football the rest of the game. That's how bad that defense was last year. The other defenses couldn't wait because they knew it didn't matter how much the Cowboys scored, that their offense was going to get the score right back and all they had to do was go out there. And just open up one dimensional football, because that's what the Cowboys had to play with a lot of games. In those scenarios you're talking about, they got desperate. You get desperate when you one dimensional. It's happened in other games and playoff games in years past when you can't move the football. Or you can't count on your defense. Then it's pretty easy to defend you..

Forget what you're saying about the tackles, but again, I'm absolutely still only worried about the defense coming together. A bunch of new players, a bunch of new starters, a whole new green coaching staff and the special teams who I'm not sure we improved at all, but we'll find out that didn't get addressed. I think just having better players and better depth is going to improve that, but still, Nope, not concerned about the offense, not even a little bit...

Even on a bad day the Cowboys offense can score enough points to win a game if you had a better defense and better special teams and better coaching that's a fact why does the Cowboys always have to worry about their offense scoring 25 to 35 points when really there's a lot of teams out there that feel so comfortable They have a defense like the Houston Texans that you can score 20 and win a game easily You can score 17 and win a game that has not happened for the Cowboys last year it doesn't happen very often it's always about the offense the offense no I want to see for once that the defense's special teams makes it easier on our offense not in most regular season games in the big ones against playoff teams and in the playoffs we need to have an actual physical defense a smothering defense and a special teams that also add some help in those games..

I agree with many of your points as places for improvement but at the end of the day the Cowboys were a top 5 offense last year and are bringing everyone back. Maybe they regress some but I don’t see them outside the top 10 next year. I don’t see the defense jumping into the top 10 this year, much less the top 5. It is going to be a work in progress.

I think some better management of Williams by using Demercado and Davis more to spell him and a healthy year from Tyler Guyton could actually improve the offense an bit and neither of those are outlandish expectations.

:hammer:Exactly and why is all this expectations have to put on often saying you have to be perfect even Better than last year No last year needs to be thrown out the window because they were put in unnecessary situational football in which they had to score on every drive to win and that's a bad pressure to be put on 1/3 of your team when the other 2/3 were trash..

That's what people overlook here most of those scenarios every offense is gonna be on every game but if they could score top 7 scoring without any help from their defense no defensive scores on a regular basis no short fields not a lot of turnovers The special teams wasn't giving you any of that either they did this mostly on their own last year...

One of those teams that were ranked better I guarantee some of those scores We're from the defense and special teams that help the scoring but we were 7th in scoring you want them to be better than that you want to be better than top five only because every year we come in expecting we better have a better offense because the rest of our team will fail and then we're going to turn around and blame it on Dak or Romo either way..

It gets old how about we have a defense no not like Dan Quinn dan Quinn's defenses were a mirage and yes they helped the team a lot we did go to the playoffs three straight years win 2 divisions and that was great,

But we need a defense that when you are up against better offenses better offensive coaches and you have to start playing chess versus checkers that that defense can shut that down and that offense doesn't have to feel pressure on every drive to score and that is where some of that comes from and the other side's defenses know this they can play more freely They know it's gonna be in the hands of the Cowboys defense versus their offense and our defense usually loses those against better offenses that's what we need to discuss..

How about in the bigger games against teams like the Rams or even the Eagles or teams like Chicago you have offensive geniuses guys that are get creative that seen your defense they seen all that and they're gonna exploit every crack in it and they're gonna tell their defense everything they need to know on how to make the Cowboys one dimensional and that's hard to play football in when the expectations are laid at the feet of the offense all the time now you want them to play better more perfect than what they did last year and last year they should have won 14 games with that type of offense that's the truth the rest of the team sucked..

Could be right about the waiver pickup, he is a one cut runner that fits our scheme and he a good pass protector.
