2027 Jones LT. Guyton RT. They natural spots. I understand this year, but down the line be nasty

Why do so many of you guys keep saying RT is Guyton’s natural spot?
It is not! He played RT 1 season at Oklahoma because Walter Rouse had started at LT for Stanford the previous 4 seasons before transferring to Oklahoma. The young kid in his only year starting at Oklahoma played RT because who would ask the veteran LT to try a new position.

Guyton started full time at Oklahoma in 2023, but in 2022, he played both left and right tackle as a swing guy.

Experience aside, players with Guyton’s size and agility are “natural” left tackles. His adjustment to the NFL had much more to do with starting experience, learning to be a pro, and changing his body while adapting to the NFL after starting only one season in college. It had very little to do with his position.

Even considering moving him to RT now after all the time he has spent at LT is ridiculous.

He played the right side his last year at OK because the QB was left handed.

BTW, in his time at TCU, prior to Oklahoma, Guyton played as a backup lineman on both sides and occasionally as an H-back, and he caught 1 pass…..lol

Hes spent more time at LT than he has RT between both the college and pro level. His muscle memory is that of a LT at this point and swapping him is a total restart for the guy.

The only way I entertain this is if Guyton flops again this year as a last chance move to salvage the player.

You're right, but we're not sold that he's actually a good OT that can be available all season for us

Not the fans. Some are many are not.
 
Keep in mind Guyton has said that he is more comfortable on the left side, but he may have just been saying that because that’s where they have him and it’s the right thing to say.

I have no idea, but the coaches ought to. Remember he was RT at OK because the QB was lefty.

He should be fine. I’m more worried about RT, and clearly so is the staff.

At this point Guyton should be able to play. If he comes out in year 4 and still looks as technically unsound, Dallas will likely be drafting OT in the first round in 2027.

The tackle position really has been a series of misses for 5+ years now and it is starting to catch up.
