Mickey: No Doubt About This Win Now Mentality

You see it differently than I do.
That’s ok. But they were 4th and 6th round picks.
Most likely whoever they would have drafted you would be saying the same thing about.
So it really doesn’t matter.

But we seen good signs from Milton and Mingo regardless of your evaluation.
Jones remains to be seen, but he was a 1st round pick.

And we gave up a valuable 3rd for a one year rental

They are probably going to wait, see first if the team has something to it.

Making a big trade right now could back fire, you lose super valuable future draft assets for a vet but... What happens if, knock on wood, a big injury happens or the team flops for some reason.

They'll wait to see if this iteration really has it in them, as I think they believe, and maybe at trade deadline a better deal could be made for a difference maker, unless... Something good really falls on their lap.

I was going to say he’s young he’s got contract left why trade a super talented pass defender . I wouldn’t think Vrabel is thinking any of this I guess people on this board think you can pry anyone away if you offer them your entire draft .
Our entire draft?!? Are you crazy?

We’ll offer them a fifth and Mingo and if they really push us, we’ll make it a fourth.

Jazz

Milton cleared waivers and is on the practice squad

Mingo almost got cut and last year had five (5!) targets and is only here for special teams and an injury apocalypse

I know you’re an optimist, but neither of those picks have come close to paying off.
well, lets be real. We have 2 of the top 10 WRs in football Not really much chance for a non stud to break out here in Dallas, unless there is an injury.

Lance was bad, some fans refused to see that and we're projecting.

Mingo was a bad trade, he was down to the 6th WR on his previous team. And you are hopeful he may contribute...to special teams perhaps. So a 4th rounder for a special teams player.

Milton is 26 and on PS.... what potential?

None were good trades.
On the team, there is always potential. They are there for a reason.

They all have their roles to help the team. They are there for a reason.

yes, even me, walking off the street and being on the team, I have potential.
its a matter of how much and reality of it become true.
ignoring facts will lead you down the wrong path and waste your time. or should we have kept Mazi and taco on the team. they had potential too!!!

This is where I am divided. I like the potential. But I don't know if the really need to do that.
Will need to wait and see. All we can do. Does not good to continue to whine about it.

So get on the right path and stop wasting your time, and mine.

https://www.dallascowboys.com/news/spagnola-no-doubt-about-this-win-now-mentality

"Ya'll been begging for "all-in," well, the Cowboys are making a cannon-ball splash preparing for the 2026 season.
"I think we've made it very clear when you're pursuing a championship we want to win now, we want to build the best team possible," said Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer, "and we felt like carrying two quarterbacks is the best way to strengthen our roster."

Good article from Spagnola. With a win now mentality common form the coaching staff and team.
Explains why Howell over Milton.
Other good info.
I don't think Jerry and Stephen consider the mentality any different than any other year. They always say they are pursuing a championship, even when Jerry made his all-in promise a couple years back. I don't think this is what all-in should look like, and if it is, we should be somewhat disappointed in it if all in is trading a fourth-round pick for a pass rusher who possibly would have been cut, trading a fifth-rounder for a linebacker who was going to be a backup at best, trading essentially for a backup tackle who was possibly going to be cut and picking up a 36-year-old pass rusher.

I'm not saying the moves we've made are going to turn out poorly and we're not going to be a better team, just that Spagnola can buy this as all in, but it pales in comparison to what a team like the Rams considers all in. I would not use all in to describe this offseason.

this is the most correct answer

there is a difference between saying "we re all in" BUT the reality is we can start that path but we arent doing it this year

vs

we know we can do it and we re ready , lets do it"

two different meanings

I’m not offering anything I like draft picks . Im talking about all these proposed trades on the board for Crosby Gonzalez Brooks etc and they all involve draft picks that’s what I meant .I guess I have to spell it out

lots of ways some answers can be taken, we all do it. just a few more seconds to clarify what you mean.

No proof Gary was going to be cut. Very doubtful. That was a "copium" response from the media and fans and the team, if it was true they said that.

Winters, we will see if a good trade. Probably is. SF fans upset over it. 5th round for a proven player. What s wrong with that? Why are Dallas fans whining?

Jones and a 3rd, maybe a little questionable. Let's see him on the field first.

Miller, a proven player time and time again. Fans wanted him for 5 years , and now whine about him.

Come on man.
