You know this type of spying wouldn't generally be legal in the US, but all the politicians are all paid off by corporations to not do anything about it.

Now we have companies like LG, Amazon, Google, Facebook, Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, etc doing things like this, along with Flock, and of course Palantir Technologies which is even more scarry.

The government and law enforcement trying to add backdoors to everything that was created to protect your privacy.

Privacy in the US is dead and we keep electing the people who enabling it.

So, I point the finger at the people. Too worried and consumed about unimportant stuff and ignoring what is truly important. We need to start asking our governmental leaders harder questions and kick them to the curb when they fail to act.

It's about making you angry and then monetizing your anger while keeping your outrage and blood pressure high because that will cause you to repeatedly come back to them completing their perpetual monetization of their flock of sheep. My TV isn't a smart TV, but I can hook up a TV box to it. I use a Roku. I'm not sure if my TV can spy on me or not. It's a Samsung flat screen that I bought in 2015. Is there some way I can figure out if it spies or not?

I actually do have an LG TV. I don't really watch much TV, mostly Star Trek white noise when I sleep. Though I never connect them to the Internet. As the video states, they can still collect. They just can't communicate that information. So be aware, if you do connected it to the Internet, it will likely then push through any logs it has.

Back to you, I use Roku also, though I'm looking at my options. Not really because I use it, but because my wife and daughter actually do watch TV. Roku also collects all kinds of information about it. Basically any streaming device does. Android TV lol. That's Google so it's like asking if a bear $%^& in the woods.

Just always look at it as they (whatever product you are referencing) aren't the product. YOU are.

I have several things that I use like privacy browsers (not all the time, depends on what I'm doing) I also use NextDNS to filter that garbage and finally I use DNS sinkholes like the Pi-hole.

I try not to use it everywhere as there are sites I want to support. Though the more intrusive or the less trustworthy they are. The more likely I'm going to slam the door on them.

I don't own an LG tv but I would bet it is not just LG. Verizon FIOS uses voice command capable remotes that obviously have microphone and you cannot turn them off. The microphone is always listening and in doing so it burns up the batteries all too frequently.

We need congress to act to make disabling the microphone in any device that contains one an option easily selected by the end users.

Go back to the Walter Cronkite days and that requirement was even tighter!

The media (FOX, CNN, any all for profit media) has zero value these days because paid influencers rendered real journalism a dead art. You can't trust anything from a for-profit media entity anymore. It's required to make money! That definitely was not always the case. Your career depended on being truthful, because otherwise. People wouldn't pay for your newspaper or watch your news television show!

The internet changed everything. Look at the Cowboys. How many fan-based Youtube channels now exist with anyone with a smartphone and a Youtube account. Truth no longer matters, only monetizing entertainment value. People don't care about truth, they just don't want to be bored and that's easy. Just piss them off, or agree with them. Either way, you evoke an emotional response and that means money is to be made.

That wasn't the case pre-Internet days...

It would seem that you worked in journalism? Cronkite was great but he was also capable of following the Gov script. You seem to blame the internet for all of this, I see the internet as the great equalizer, much much better than a handful of voices all coming from the same source. Give me an overload of information and I’ll parse it out, most humans are not capable of this or just don’t even care. Thx…

Me a journalist? Could you imagine that? lol If I were a journalist, the media would be much better and far less angry. I would work to bring people together, not intentionally divide them. I subscribe to laughter is the best medicine, not hate.
