I've reached the point, after 30 years of failures, that I just want to see the team go for it, even if it crashes spectacularly. Whatever that means, whatever that takes, I'm up for it.
We've been in the process of returning to an NFC Championship Game multiple times, but we haven't gotten there because we always have a weak link that the Joneses have not used all aspects of roster building, whether it was downplaying the draft after Jimmy left or becoming cheap in free agency. There have only been a few years (under Parcells) where we actually focused on the draft and bringing in quality free agents at the same time. Too bad we wasted some of Parcells' time here before we finally figured out the quarterback position at the end of his run.
I'm not saying trading for Maxx Crosby guarantees a Super Bowl. I'm just saying that would be going for it and I'd be willing to accept the consequences of that over not doing enough to get the job done.
