News: PFT: Jerry Jones: Creating cap space gives us room to make a trade

I don’t think he has the nuts to do it but I wish he would. I wish he’d say screw 2027 and focus on 2026. Go all in.
He doesn't have enough horses to go the distance in 2026.

The roster and coaching staff didn't get bad in just one season and it won't be totally fixed in one season.

New players, new coaches, new schemes......let the cream set up.

If he does it, all the fans who have been saying to go for it will suddenly pivot and complain about not having any draft picks in next year’s draft, lol.
I won't. I can acknowledge the attempt even if it fails. Plus, I think it would force a shift in strategy. This front office has been build-through-the-draft almost exclusively since 2013. With no draft picks, the choices would be to rely almost exclusively on outside free agent additions or tank. I can live with either of those over what we've been doing, even though I'd absolutely hate watching a complete rebuild year.

2001x1572!

"I'd like to solve the puzzle"

Pat - "Go ahead"

"The moron who likes to hear himself talk"

Pat - "You win!"
LOL, you know that is crazy work right there. LOL

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones on
@1053thefan

is not concerned about Dallas having only 5 picks left in next year's draft. He's focused on this year's group and is open to trading more of those picks to upgrade the team.Jones said the Cowboys are "in play" to make a move, which would likely be on defense.Dallas recently restructured contracts to create more cap space. Jones: "That does show that we have really serious room to make a trade if we wanted to right now."

One of the deepest draft classes in a long time. He should care.

I just want him to exhaust all options. I feel he’s gone 70 percent. I need the other 30. I just don’t care about draft picks who won’t be good until 3 years from now.

I strongly disagree

The defense was a full two year tear down and rebuild and we’re in year one

Cowboys are not contending for a Super Bowl this year and throwing more good picks after bad isn’t going to change that.

Not sure if we wouldn't exhaust our options with Cornelius, Leverett and even Wanya Morris first, which would probably take us to Smith's return.
Yea, I think the "oh ****" moment would only be if Bass gets injured.
Outside of that, I think they would rock Bass till Smith is healthy.

And we could easily pick a Taco Charlton over a TJ Watt. I'm not saying I favor having no draft picks, but having them does not guarantee success ... and has not for a long time now. I'm good with trying to win now over hoping to win in the future. It would at least represent a change from what we have been doing.

Jerry Jones is mortgaging the team's future to win now. I'm not okay with that, even if we DO win now. I want sustained excellence, not a shot in the dark that lasts for only one season.

Am I right in thinking we can’t trade either of next year’s first round picks because the Jets own whichever is the highest??

Thy did tender Bass a 2nd round draft pick. No teams took him. Now he makes $5 million so he needs to earn it.
Not sure if this means other teams did not think he was worth a 2nd round pick. Or if the FO once agin over valued one of their players.
Or did Dallas really want to keep him and think highly of him knowing no team would sign him for that. But would take the draft pick if they did.
