Speculation based on previous trades-not enough received for Parsons. Overpay on Jones, Mingo, Lance, R.Williams, J.Galloway.
When it comes to trading, Jerry is not very good.

Drafting correctly means around a 50 percent hit rate at best no matter how good your team is at it. Now, it's about 75 percent in the first round, lowers into the 60s in the second, into the 50s in the third and just keeps going down from there. And even those players that you hit on may simply be adequate starters but nothing special.

I'm not advocating trading our draft picks every year for players, but both methods have their benefits and drawbacks. For example, the Eagles missed badly on Jaelon Reagor in the 2020 draft. They came back in 2022 and traded for A.J. Brown (while Tennessee used the pick to miss on receiver Treylon Burks). That trade helped the Eagles reach two Super Bowls, winning one.

• The two trades he just pulled off in the draft were perfect.
• The Parsons trade was too - the Cowboys have already won that trade.
• Gary for just a 4th?
• Quinnen Williams
• Winters for just a 5th?
• Getting B. Jones by just moving up half a round and a 6th?
• Getting a 3rd for Odighizuwa

If Jerry freed up an extra $19M, yet doesn't sign / trade for anyone. Technically this is a bad deal for the Cowboys correct? All he did was push cap space down the line that in all situations where that cap spaces remains free this year could have been used to pay down those contracts right this year rather than the following years?

So, while they say a trade isn't imminent, that likely is not correct because doing what they did was a net negative if they don't do something, correct?

He can roll it forward to give us more cap to use next year when we sign Pickens to an extension. I think that is more probably than another trade, but hope I'm wrong ... because cap space can be created for a Pickens extension and the first-year hit will be lower anyway.

If something happens, it won’t be until the deadline IMO.

They’re gonna wait and see where they’re at by then.

If it feels like they are one player away from being Super Bowl competitive. Then they will pull the trigger.

Maybe not all the way to the deadline but probably no immediate trades.

The weak spots are often not what most people expected before the season starts.

No, that is not really how it works.

Any unused space rolls over to next year.

A restructure usually just converts this season's salary onto a prorated bonus.
- i.e. The salary for this season was going to be paid anyway.
- If they don't use the new cap space then it equals out in the end when all years are considered.

Obviously if they use the new cap space to add a player, then that is less space available to roll over into next season.

Well let me ask you this....why do you think he got tagged this year? Why do you think the Cowboys only got him for a 3rd and a 5? Why do you think he fell to the 2nd round? Why do you think there wasn't a market for him in the trade market? Why do you think they haven't signed him long term?

LOL, he plans on torching all our picks in the 2027 draft.

And I hate that. The draft is key to managing the cap. Trading those picks for vets who are on second contracts or you have to give second contracts costs so much more.

They had to tag him to have time to work out a long term deal. They decided to let him play on the tag as already planned. He wanted out of Pittsburgh, and Dallas was one of the teams he wanted to go to.
Pittsburgh out of respect accommodated him out of respect was the reports given.
Supposedly they had slightly better trade offers. But as mentioned out of respect agreed to send him to Dallas.

He was a2nd round grade as I do not recall him being a 1st rounder that slip.
So what it was only a 3rd and a 5th, other teams screwed up then didn’t they.

Long term plans are for next year. Just because it did not get done this year, means nothing as to your narrative.

They might get that for Lamb but I don’t know about Pickens. I think he burned too many bridges to ever fulfill rehab his career where no one is concerned with him. Do people need to really see him on his best behavior to believe him? I just don’t know.

Charles Haley came here and won a Super Bowl despite him being an an extreme public exhibitionist in team meetings (which doesn’t actually describe how horrible it was) and attempted to punch out his head coach.

And actions say no agent would ever let their player play on a tag unless there was a reason. I suspect its to salvage his reputation around the league.
