NFL com SB Predictions, Cowboys get one vote

They're always picking the best teams from the previous season. Yet half the super bowls played had a team that didn't make the playoffs the previous season. Last year it was both teams I believe. Did anyone predict them? Of course not.

That could happen. The Bills keep coming really close to getting to the big dance. If the Bills get to the big dance and they're not playing the Cowboys, I'll root for them. Their fans have suffered enough.

But that prediction of the Cowboys beating the Texans in the SB -- I'd love to see that one happen. We've never had an all-Texas Super Bowl. It came close to happening against the Oilers, and probably would have if they had had instant replay back then.
I think you're a bit confused my friend. Are you talking about when Renfro was robbed of a tying TD late in the 3rd? That was in the 1979 playoffs. The Cowboys didn't go to the SB, the Rams did.

You can't be talking about 1978. The Steelers stomped the Oilers.

The only way I root for the Bills is if they're playing the Eagles, Giants, or 49ers. Otherwise I want to see them be the first team to lose 5 straight super bowls.

I agree about the offense absolutely being fantastic… however, the D was historically bad and the new guys on D haven’t shown a thing. For example, IMO I think Downs was the best player in the draft. But there’s a chance he could be Marvin Harrison Jr who most everyone thought would be a superstar. Time will tell if the D is improved.
I can’t help but think adding Gary, Downs, Thompson, Miller, Barham, and Lawrence should improve the unit from historically bad to just bad automatically. That alone would have been enough to win 2-3 more games last year.

If they can overachieve and get to average, this team is dangerous.

You're right. I thought the Mike Renfo play happened in '78, not '79. But it was still kind of close. If memory serves me right, that year the Cowboys lost to the Rams in the NFC title game. So if the Oilers hadn't gotten hozed and the Cowboys had beaten the Rams, we would have had a Texas Super Bowl.

Divisional playoff game. Rams went on to beat the Bucs in the title game. Cowboys would have beaten them too.
