$6M a year is a little rich for a block-only #2.

On a related note, this is why I really, really don't like drafting TEs early. It's a position that takes a couple seasons to get going, and also one that you don't need to be an elite athlete to play well. Especially if your offense just asks for blocking and hitch routes, like Dallas usually does.

TE is a bit like RB in a way, where you can draft a supreme talent in the top 20, or you can get a Day 3 guy who will give you 80% of the production for 10% of the cost. Especially if that supreme talent is probably going to burn a year or two of his rookie contract just figuring things out.

Great move!! He didn't play much last year due to injuries and was blowing up camp before he got injured. The coaching staff knows what they have in him. Lock him up why he is cheap rather wait for him to become to expensive for us. Also as said earlier locks many up so Pickens is an option.

Spann Ford played in all 17 games last season and was credited with 5 starts!
