TNF from Down Under: Rams vs 49ers

Fine if you want a money grab like this, but it shouldn’t involve important games. What happened to Jacksonville vs whoever in London? Oh they don’t really like it? You don’t say?

Every time they cut to the crowd tonight it felt like it was AI generated. Weird. Do not tell me they didn’t give away a TON of merchandise. There’s NO way there’s that many die hard NIner fans in Australia.
Sorry.

They aren’t going to quit with the greed until they completely ruin this game are they?

We’ll put them out there on rare occasions. Last year it was under 2%. We run one tight end sets the vast majority of the time and when we run two, it’s BSF coming in to block on a running play.

It’s strategy, sure, but it’s also talent that dictates what we can do.

McVay has been stacking hybrid tight ends who can do it all and he can be tricky “will he run or will he pass” even when he has three tight ends at the same time. They ran 13 over 30% of the time last year. That like blew the doors off anything ever before. He’s a genius and the league tends to follow his lead

We just extended BSF so we’re likely not going to follow this current trend and Ferg and Schoon can’t really fool anyone with “will he/won’t he” when they are in there anyway because neither are good blockers.

Cowboys tight ends and their usage is one of my main complaints about the offense and I’ve been grousing about it for awhile, but Schottenheimer has double downed on his Norv Turner training. I’d jsut like to see a bit more innovation.
They got smoked today but long season so won’t judge too hard.

I also think BSF is a really understand receiving threat and if given more opportunities there (as I think he will now as TE2) you’ll see his versatility.

Well it is a long trip, but both teams made the same trip lol.
Maybe SF went early and rested up?
In Australia and on netflix was stupid for this game.
I seriously think this was a factor. SF went out there fully a week before the game, whereas the Rams trained at home and didn’t leave LA til Tuesday night.

How else would you grow the business, business that doesn’t grow dies eventually. Everyone wants more money, they are not in it just to pass the time. Crowd was funny.

Hate to see the whiners win ever….but weird to see the media’s anointed team get trounced….in a divisional rival game.

I wouldn't read too much into Rams' losing. It's just the first game; most coaches will tell ya it scares them a bit because they are not sure if their team is ready. Let's check again after 2-3 more games. As Belichick once said....it takes 3-4 games to know what type of team you have for the season.

But keep an eye on Stafford; he didn't look good at all.

Agree about Stafford.

I thought the 49'ers offensive game plan was brilliant. So much misdirection, short passes, great mix of run and pass. It kept that potent Rams' offense largely on the sidelines.

Uh, as for the 'potent' Rams' D--perhaps next week.

Hell, Shanahan can take guys off the street and score 20+ points. Defense is his problem but we will see. Hard to tell if the Rams' offense was that bad or the 49ers' D was that good.

Yellow jacket Trent Williams. I bet that is one player the Commanders wish they had kept. And the Commanders traded him to the 49ers for a 2020 5th rounder and a 2021 3rd round pick. The 49ers robbed them lol. They def won that trade.

They never went home before going to London last year and they crushed it.

I’m sure this wasn’t a coach sitting there figuring this out.
Last year's game in London was in mid-October; the team had actual games before the 10-hour flight. They also played a team that was not the 49ers nor a divisional rival. Does this change the belief that the Rams are still the best team in the NFC? That is not what I am saying. What this game showed is that their HC is arrogant, believed the hype he hears about them, and was 1000000% unprepared. Any other coach in the NFL that pulled a pathetic no show like this etam did would be blasted....

Matt Stafford's PFF rating was 42.1. And, yes, Romeo Doubs finished dead last among all Pats' players.

Sometimes, my eyes aren't deceiving me. But only sometimes.

Ty Simpson started 15 games in college. He is nowhere near ready or even close to starting in the NFL. At most he will be a career backup.
Sure, you have all the knowledge of what he will be. Just like those that said kurt warner should be shocking shelves.

There is no telling what Simpson's ceiling is
BUT it is also an absolute that he is NOT ready to play in the NFL now
