While reminiscing about how Tom Landry absolutely owned opening weekend of the NFL vs his competition, I was kinda shocked when I saw the numbers.
There are stats and then there are trends.

●All Time Record:
The Dallas Cowboys hold an all-time opening day record of 41-24-1 (.629 winning percentage), which ranks among the best in the NFL.

●Record Win Streak:
The franchise won 17 consecutive season openers from 1965 to 1981, which stands as an NFL record.

●Tom Landry Era:
Legendary head coach Tom Landry went 22-6-1 in season openers.

Here's the part that really blew me away.

●The Dallas Cowboys have absolutely dominated the New York Giants on opening day, holding an 11-1 all-time record in their 12 season-opening meetings.

●The Lone Loss:
The Giants' only opening-day victory against Dallas came on September 11, 2016, in a tight 20-19 win. That game also marked the NFL debut of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott.

●Primetime Perfection:
The rivals have opened the season against each other in primetime five times since 2012, and the Cowboys have won all five.

●Historic Shutout:
Their last opening-week meeting occurred to start the 2023 season, when Dallas delivered a 40-0 blowout at MetLife Stadium. It stands as the largest shutout victory in Cowboys history and the worst home shutout loss in Giants history.

In 88 I knew we were getting Aikman. In 89 I knew we were going in the right direction. In 90 it was a matter of when.

I made the trip down for that one and was unbelievably humiliated on the way out by Texan fans. I had no comeback at all. Horrifying.

It's a good thing the rest of our history isn't like that.

I remember the day after the radio shows were absolutely brutal. Brutal to the point of cruelty. They deserved it. I still can’t believe they lost to the Texans in their debut.

The most embarrassing loss in team history. The league gifted the Cowboys an opening day win, and the Cowboys blew it. A stain that can never be erased. Just like losing the first game at the new stadium to the Giants and having Eli sign his name on the wall of the locker room.

Really you're really holding on to all the way back to that III really who is the coach at the time who was the players at the time 'cause I blame them whoever they were who are it's not on my mind because I don't hold grudges but apparently you hold grudges for way too long..

Yes you're going to lose games the Rams just got ran out they got ran through they got ran over all these little toys that they brought over they didn't do Jack they had all season to prepare for this game which happens to be a in division rival They didn't look like they showed up to play they were still running on the fumes of all the people telling them how great they were going to be that's what happens it's the NFL the Rams were supposed to win and they lost it is what it is...
