Coaching Matters

I doubt the Giants do much this year. This was less about John Harbaugh and more about how inept Dallas was.

HC or position coach J Williams showboating into the end zone not only cost more tick tocks off the clock instead of getting in the end zone and handing the ball to the ref . It makes Aubrey kick a 48 yard extra point with the taunting penalty . And of course it’s missed . Someone needs to have a conversation with # 33. Instead of a 7 point game your down 8. That’s a coaching moment .

I've made this post multiple times I think over the past 10-15 years.

You saw it tonight. The giants finally got a coach and it mattered. We keep hiring retreads nobody wants. No toughness, no discipline, mistake after mistake. Just hype The Dallas cowboys are once again a massively overrated team. 30 years of this BS all because the stubborn owner has to win with his hand picked guy.
Giants have Roman, Nagy and Brian Callahan, three former OCs and 2 were HC. Dallas has a first time DC with some college guys and position coaches. Also CPs strength is pass defense. Giants are built to pound you like the Ravens. Giants won everything.

No it was about the Giants being a carbon copy style wise of the Ravens. Mobile QB, big backs, good pass rushers and kept the TE and FB. Also have 3 experienced OCs.

And to be honest CP is in for alot of brick tossing but you also have to look at personnel on D . Gary & Lawrence invisible . Miler a ghost . The LB and Safety that had any impact at all were Barsham & Downs and CB Durant .

That’s about three players and possibly Q Williams on the punch out fumble but the talent seems overestimated based on game one . I know one thing I want the physicality of Barsham in the middle over Overshown Winters anyone else .

Derrick Henry is coming soon to a theater near you . Buckle your chin strap he makes Skattaboo look like a D3 RB .

I've preached this for so long and we continue to have a coaching staff that cannot get control of the penalties discipline the team get some accountability.

It's just the same mess every year I'm to the point I don't even feel like wasting my time discussing it

I'm pretty blown away to be honest. I've been here since the 90s and this was HORRIBLE coaching. Like the worst.

It's pretty clear CP needs some time to get the defense ready.

He's a good coach. The defense just won't be what we expected as quickly as we all hoped.
For being a good coach he made plenty of questionable calls tonight, he had a large part in Cowboys losing tonight. He deserves plenty of the blame for the Cowboys overhype everything media. Dart outplayed Dak too, not great.

Schottenheimer would have been hired by precisely zero other teams. Many known great coaches have been hired by new teams over the past 3 or 4 seasons, including the one we just played. Other teams have hired elite assistants and are thriving. We hired an assistant of the guy we fired.
Failing up at its finest, LOL.

I’m hoping Jerry sees this and thinks about it on the flight home. A less talented team (on paper) with a proven HC beat a more talented team (on paper) with a hopeful project of a coach. I hope this resonates with Jerry and FO.

I think for me this loss sucks because it was Garrett 2.0. The punt on 4th and inches is such a Garrett move. I was having flashbacks. Schotty was starting to win me over but this loss sent him back a few notches. We came out flatter than a preseason game and seemed uninterested. We came out with more intensity for the preseason game against the Cardinals.

Coaching definitely matters and we can talk about Dak, Micah, Romo and all the other things we have tonight in all the other threads but the reality is when Jimmy walked out that door we are 2 Neil O’Donnell interceptions away from never winning a Super Bowl since ‘93.

Giants had 10 penalties for 122 yards
If it wasn’t for the Giants’ penalties it wouldn’t have been as close as it was and it wasn’t close at all. The score is deceptive. It wasn’t as close as an 8 point game.

How do you know Schotty is a bad coach? it is easy. The first delay of game penalty happened when the HC did not call a timeout. He is just a bad HC, and people still thinks he changed the freaking culture. He is not, he is the guy no GM wants to hire.

Is his strength pass defense? I saw players run wide open all game. Dart was 23/29. He completely dominated.
