Other Than Our GM, "H-CINO" is Our Greatest Weakness

NFL GMs are allowed five years to win playoff games or they lose their job, except here. So, obviously that is our greatest obstacle to winning, but after that there is another factor.

This is a new term I created to describe the second greatest obstacle to winning in Dallas: Having a head coach with no authority to hire their own staff, fire players, etc.

As I watched the game last night, something really stood out to me as I watched each head coach during the game. Watching Harbaugh, I observed a Super Bowl winning head coach with full confidence and more importantly, full authority. There was zero doubt on the Giants sideline who was in charge. Zero.

On our sideline, I observed a man lacking confidence and lacking any hint of power, a toothless lion devoid of any authority over our sidelines. Sure, Ol' Schotty has power over gametime, clock management but little else. He's just another patsy in a long line of Jerry's figurehead head coaches, another scapegoat in the waiting, biding their time until they pay the price for Jerry's failures as our lifetime GM.

Look at the contrast below in the image. Think back to last night's game as we observed two very different organizations at work. As I've often said, there is no other NFL franchise that even remotely resembles our Cowboys. There is no other organization that would allow nepotism to be more important than winning. And there no other organization that has more hubris than our Cowboys.

So when you reflect on last night's loss, remember who is ultimately to blame for this. Remember who is responsible for 2 out of 3 off-seasons without any meaningful activity to improve this roster. And remember that our beloved GM is the only constant over 30 seasons, superseding any "head coach", QB, coordinator, or player.

We need to play better. We need our players to execute and we need to build a championship defense for once in a long time. But all that sounds like a bridge too far, a faint dream of hope not based on the reality of the past 30 seasons, a flicker of hope while disregarding logic as to why we have been stuck in the wilderness for so long.

It's only one game, and we will play better as a team as our players learn to work together, esp on defense where we have so many new faces. But, the obstacles to winning permanently put in place by the most profitable pro sports owner make it near impossible to reach another Super Bowl and it's pure folly to even mention a championship with so much of the deck stacked against us by our own owner, GM, and real head coach.

• It has been obvious for years that Jerry doesn’t hire the most talented head coaches. His #1 priority is hiring someone that makes him comfortable - not just hiring the most talented HC.
• I don’t hate Brian Schottenheimer. But the difference between Schotty and John Harbaugh is not just “power”. It’s also talent. John Harbaugh is a talented HC. Schotty is obviously not on the same level as Harbaugh.
• Schotty is probably at best a decent coordinator. But he certainly won’t overshadow Jerry. That qualifies him here as a HC.

Harbaugh beat us many times with the Ravens. I think we may have won one game against him in his tenure....but he won the majority.

He’s the perfect Jones boys coach. Rainbows and fist pumps. He will never steal Jerrah’s spotlight and everyone knows it’s Jerrah’s team with a weak coach like Schotty. It’s about the Jones boys being comfortable not winning.

Been the problem since the Tuna left and before him Jimmy and he doesn’t want those type coaches around here, at least till he is gone, those type want be here.

Fair points, but I wouldn't draw any conclusions from WK1 Harbaugh with the Giants.

The Giants have sucked for so long that they should basically have all-pros at every position. They don't, but they have amassed some decent talent.

And yes, Harbaugh had them ready and they looked good. But there's a reason he's not in Baltimore anymore. We'll find out if it was justified or not. He could become like Andy Reid, or more likely, he'll become like all the other career HC's that can't quite replicate the same success elsewhere.

I will, however, criticize the hiring process of Schotty until they finally let him go or he proves me wrong. With that said, I do like a lot of the staff cultivation he's done since he's been here.

Agree, may have been wk1 but even when the gnats have beaten us in the past, it wasn’t like this they dominated the OL and DL like no one business and it was evident from that first series when didn’t want to go for it with inches not a full yard.
