What's wrong, in a nutshell

Something to consider, since CP is new the Giants game plan had to be more about individual players rather than tendencies. The Giants did a great job of sizing up the Cowboys personnel and attacking the weaknesses. This is just smart football.
Exactly....it was nothing pretty or sexy, just smart ball. A good vet coach out planning a young DC.

It’s week 1..

We had no preseason and it showed.

I like Schottenheimer.

Parker scares me. He is looking fraudulent.
I'm going with "It's week 1..." on everything. That includes Parker. If the defense still looks like this in game 3, then I'll be concerned. Game 5? I'll be worried. Game 7? It's probably too late to salvage the season at that point (if it hasn't improved AT ALL by then) and I'll be angry...because it likely means all the hype and credentials were a mirage.

For now, it's game one.

The freaking announcer was calling it out.

How would even a rookie DC allow it to keep happening?
I think Jerry assumed Vic Fangio would be telling CP what to do in his headset this year....just like Fangio did when C.P. was with the Eagles.

May e if we hire Bill Bellicheat's plumber he would be a better DC than Parker? IDK

There were only 3 players on defense from last year. Defensive coaches are all new. Everyone said it would take time to jell. Now everyone is throwing in the towel on the season after 1 game?

i love this

experience in what? do tell and make the list detailed, than we ll see how silly it looks.

No coach is going to be the same at every team. so many factors. so what would yours need?
lol I was going to respond but then realized we just got rid of Mike McCarthy, I don't know wheat we need lol.

Cowboy forced for fumbles, and we dropped two interceptions
It was ugly at times,
We only had the ball twice in the second half
And we scored two touchdowns
The defense was spent
No excuses, it was ugly, but the Giants weren’t much better, we just made them look better
We got to the quarterback Caleb Downs buried him

THERE IS NO TALENT ON DEFENSE

I don't understand the obsession with waxing poetic about what this team is. It is very, very simple.

Players, yes, makes it easier to coach...but, the fact that they were not in position, we consistently lost contain, we're out if position and their footwork was horrible, opening up the hips the wrong way, just little things that coaches need to look for and correct on practice and on the sidelines.
This is the part that scares me. What happened last night isn’t a “they need time to gel and learn a scheme” problem. The cowboys defense got beat fundamentally.

Constantly out of position on misdirection plays, DBs opening up zones by dropping different depths, not being aware yards to go on 3rd and long. DL looked completely lost whenever dart would roll out.

A lot of this stuff is fixable, but it’s concerning that it wasn’t fixed a month ago. Also concerning just the amount of things that went wrong.

I really do like the CP vision and imagine he ends up a great DC at some point, but that performance last night screams that he is in over his head and needs a veteran defensive advisor in his ear.

No one has thrown in the towel but it’s fair to call that performance what it is….concerning.

The giants defense has several new starters and a whole new coaching staff….why didn’t they struggle more against an even more talented cowboys offense?

This team does itself no favors in making excuses for being unprepared.

Have you been reading today’s threads? Almost everyone has already given up.

It’s the 1st game of the season.

Shotty is fine, but he learned last night that his new DC is green as can be and got way outcoached by veteran play callers.

If the defense gets the Giants off the field more regularly, that game settles in and our offense gets it done.

But the offense basically watched 80% of that game like us.

It is time for Shotty to put some distance between himself and the players and start being more of an ***.

Somebody should get cut today just because. Get their attention. Show them he's not playing.
If Schotty needs to be tougher, then he is not fine. Schotty is a players coach, and if he wasn't, he wouldn't be HC of the Dallas Cowboys.

And, that excuses the horrible scheme....I used to love coaches like you. Lol
Is the scheme horrible? Or is it just that it's not fully clicking yet and we have insufficient player personnel to fix it?

I genuinely don't know after just one week.

I'm not throwing in the towel, I'm stating what I feel.is the problem. The problem is he don't have a true HC and a DC that needs a true HC to provide direction and a swift kick in the azz when needed
