Need to be patient with the defense

Was the missed tackling and being ran over by the much more physical team as a result of how little time they played together or the fact the the defense once again stinks
 
didn't we say that the last 2 years or more? "Be Patient?" That said, it's true, this is a year of great change, flux at D. It's going to be ugly at times. Heres why. We clearly lack the right players to play any sound scheme, let alone, this version of the 3-4. What was exposed last night was just that. Many of these players don't belong starting. We need a Detrich-Wise kind of DE/OLB 3-4 guy. A big body that can stay upright and not get washed. We don't have that. In fact, we need 2 guys like that to fix the d. Also, whats clear is Winters and Overshown aren't the answer. We have no linebackers outside of Barham that can play. The corners are trash. At best, Durant is ok. Our safeties are decent enough with Downs and that will get better. We lack too many good players on defense to run any scheme effectively.

Are they still waiting for the batter to mix?

I really wish Harbaugh dropped 50 on us like he could have.

Youd still be making excuses though.

Do you really think after what this fan base has endured that joking about last nights performance is going to land well?

Your posting history also suggests you werent joking. So sorry if I assumed.

Do you actually think this defense just needs more time? And that will solve all of the problems?

We all knew the defense needed time to truly gel.
But did not know they would look that bad either. We need to see how they respond next week.
And no all the problems will not be solved. I said all along there will be growing pains, probably more than we want.

They could go out next week and look good. But how will they stop Lamar from running all over them.
 
I have said it before and I say it again
not playing them as a unit in preseason was DUMB
all the new starters plus a new D and DC

What do some of you expect fans to do? Dallas starters laughed and butt grabbed through the preseason and come out and lay an egg. I expect a better showing versus Washington.

Yup.

We played against a team that has HC and OC with SB rings on their fingers.

NFL can be cruel to rook DCs who don’t know what they are doing.

Run 34 with Cover 4 most of the game.
