Dak is a greater QB than Aikman?

Those making such comments are simply making comments to garner attention to themselves. Aikman and those like him should be relegated to the very top of the best QBs in the history of the league. Such comments are indicative of simple, wannabe reporters. It's a desperate effort, at best.

Isn't a speakeasy a 1920s gin joint that served hooch during the prohibition period?

+1 for the term 'hooch".

If he was 5 foot 6 and had an arm like a girl he probably wouldnt either. What is your point? I know those 3 rings are a minor inconvenient fact for some of you Dak slobberers but guess what....they hsppened. If my aunt had a package...like I said..the insanity
Minus the rings Troy has the weakest stats in the HOF.

A lot more parity now, but Dak is a Super Bowl away from going ahead of Aikman.

He might come close to doubling Romo and Aikman in yards and touchdowns....those stats and records are gonna be used heavily in general GOAT arguments like them or not.

But yes, I get Troy was astonishing in those 2 SF games in 1992 and 1993, namely the first one. Those are coincidentally the games that drag Daks name down. And yes, I get that the 90s was a rougher period to play the position.
I'm not fluent in new math, but in what universe is 1 > 3 ?

In the world that Marino 0 > Griese 2. It's possible they go with the stats and records guy over the guy with a few more rings.

Just saying that's how people evaluate those things. Not saying that's necessarily gonna happen, or that Dak is even gonna get to that one Super Bowl, which I think is the minimum he has to get to to even get into the Top 30 all time.

Tony was a gunslinger. How would that work out for the Cowboys against those great 49er teams in 92/93? It wouldn't. I'm more confident Dak would win with them than Romo.

Aikman had a loaded team. Correct. But it was in an era where defenses could obliterate the QB without consequences. He still had to actually make great throws.

No one needs a gun slinger with Emmitt Smith and 8 players in the box.

I saw every game Troy played, and he was far from pinpoint. He threw slants and outs very well. Everything else was iffy.

Who's better has it's questions but there's one thing we're all certain of. Troy had much, much better coaching than Dak ever dreamed of.

The Dallas Cowboys averaged 21.3 points per game in the games started by Troy Aikman during his 12-year NFL career.

So just imagine how much our Defense gave up.

And he had the all-time leading NFL rusher. It must have been very difficult for him to score 21.3 points per game.

Aikman was the perfect QB for the era he played in where WR's were getting mauled by the defense and hyper accurate passes made a big difference. He also had very little improv ability and he would have been destroyed behind the lines Romo played with. People forget that was getting booed in the years before he retired when the OL went to crap and we couldn't run or pass block consistently.

All things being equal I'd take Staubach >> Romo >> Aikman >> Dak for this reason, but if you told me we would have a baller OL consistently I'd take Aikman over Romo.

People are going to freak out, but even Aikman is on record saying he thought Romo was better than him. Some data at the bottom to back this up. TLDR it is an attempt to adjust QB rating for player era by converting passer rating stats to a z-score for every season, get a career z-score, and then convert it back to a passer rating based on 2025 metrics.

P.S. Dak is 38-13 outside of the NFC East when the defense gives up 24 points or fewer. Rings are a team stat and not a way to evaluate a QB.

This is at the heart of most of these comparisons

If Troy Aikman was drafted by the 1989 Seahawks, his career would have been completely unremarkable. If Dak Prescott was a Cardinal, he wouldn’t have made it to his third contract. And if Tony Romo was a Dolphin he never gets his big break and likely is a career backup

Can Dak hand the ball off to Emmitt 30 times and throw a few 50/50 balls to Irvin while beating the bills by 40? Probably
I agree. All of these guys are talented. It’s more about opportunity and where you are drafted.
