Holley: That's the difference between Dak and Romo

This is so overblown. I don't think Schottenheimer literally meant to just snap it and throw it away. He meant don't take any stupid chances, to throw it away if you don't like what you see.

This is the problem now with coaches trying to take bullets for players. The age old wisdom is for leaders to take responsibility, but the media and fans take this literally and think he really meant, "Just throw it away, don't even try to score here." Of course he wanted to score, otherwise they'd just kick the FG on third down.

If you were going to go for the tie, why not kneel down and run the clock down to 2 seconds and kick the fg.

Or kick it on third down in case something went wrong. The play design was as safe as it gets. If Pickens doesn't beat his man to the pylon it is an incomplete pass. Worst case scenario it becomes OPI and a longer kick. If Pickens beats his man to the pylon, which he did, it's about an easy of a TD as it gets.

“We called a quick out. I probably over-coached Dak on that one. Because we had the points. I probably over-coached him on that. Because—with the time, no timeouts, it had to go to GP or throw it away.”
Schottenheimer.

Let me translate for you:
If Pickens is open, throw it to him. If he isn't, throw it away.”

I'm gonna say this right here-and-now <CRUNCH!>. Seriously. Let's be completely honest here. This thread should be judged as an absolute failure <CHOMP!> if no one posts that <MUNCH!> Jesse Holley is a <SMACK!> Romofanatic.

It was easy to see as his rookie season played out. Prescott is cautious to the core and has zero killer instinct.
That is why his rah rah talk rubs me the wrong way. Sad thing is, the first part of last season & early this season, he's playing the best he's ever played and it's still not good enough to even get legit attempts to score to win the game.

No pressure on him. Nobody expects the Cowboys to do anything when the defense is that bad. The moment a little pressure happens he folds.

Exactly. I'd have more respect for him if he at least went down swinging instead of laying down with a whimper.
