Holley: That's the difference between Dak and Romo

The still shots are also misrepresenting.
The backup was in at RT for Steele, and he was bull rushed right into Dak’s face. He threw the ball away before Pickens made his push off move to get open. Did he throw it too soon? Yes, but I’m sure Schotty’s “over coaching” the situation and Broderick Jones being driven back into his face led to that.

Pickens was not open until after the pass was in the air.

I’m more disturbed we kicked the ball in the end zone, after that, why not kick it in the field of play and run the clock down
Oh, you want to take the easy way out.

You are smart. Our coach isn’t. Apparently.

This is so overblown. I don't think Schottenheimer literally meant to just snap it and throw it away. He meant don't take any stupid chances, to throw it away if you don't like what you see.

This is the problem now with coaches trying to take bullets for players. The age old wisdom is for leaders to take responsibility, but the media and fans take this literally and think he really meant, "Just throw it away, don't even try to score here." Of course he wanted to score, otherwise they'd just kick the FG on third down.
Exactly.

These guys aren’t on the same page and blew a game because of it

Too nice with each other to have truly hard conversations in the pursuit of something epic at the end of it all

Maybe they’re exhausted from chasing it and now they’re jogging along hoping someone trips up

Dak has already stated that he could have \ should have waited a beat longer.

It's madness. He kicked two low ones OB but they never thought Aubrey could kick it high and straight 65 yards inside the 10 and let them return it? We're in OT

He's right.

Jesse Holley is the biggest hater around. I can’t stand him in Hangin with the boys. All he talks about himself and how the Cowboys suck. I’m sure he’s one of the haters here on a regular basis.

Steele has been a problem forever. The fact that we've done nothing to replace him goes back to poor GM evalution prowess. And no, throwing mid/late round picks at anything is not addressing it.

LOL this whole thing is blowing my mind. Schotty said that likely just trying to be the coach that covers for his players. Good on him. But the reality is there is no way Schotty told him to do that. Maybe he said if the first read isn't there air mail it and that makes sense. You can't go to read 2 and risk a sack.

But read #1 was Pickens. And he was open. And Dak threw it 15 yards over his head.

It is mindnumbing watching people try to argue against this, as if Dak didn't actually make that bad pass (frankly, the throw on 1st down wasn't all that good either but I can also blame Schotty for calling a dumb fade there). Dak puckered up/brain farted there. That's just the reality.

Yeah but this is more for the adults, bro. Not the sensitive babies who can't handle a dissenting, and almost always right, opinion.

The Preacher strikes again. It's like the View, but for "Men."

Can you imagine what TROY would have done in that case?
Emmitt Smith scores a TD on the 1st quarter drive that ended with a FG from the 2yd line and the final Cowboys drive that ended at the 2yd line. Troy would have handed the ball off both times.

"The quarterback should ignore the coach"

That is a criticism of the coach whether you guys mean it to be or not. The second Dak throws a pick ignoring the coach it would be "Dak needs to be coached hard he's not smart enough blah blah blah."

I agree with you. Dak got rid of it so quickly it is hard to believe a coach would have told him to do that in that situation. The play they called needed a couple of seconds to develop and given the route it was unlikely Pickens would ever be that open that quickly. Nothing about that play makes sense.

I think the idea that the tie was a certainty so don't turn the ball over was a good one, but no coach should have to tell his 11 year vet that. He put something in Dak's head at the wrong time.

So you are saying Dak played it even more conservatively than Schottenheimer instructed. I think you're right.
