I see no value in the Cowboys drafting OG in 1st round

I think you need to do more research on the player. If he's a rotational player, as you say, why does he get a billion snaps?

I guess we're gonna have to agree to disagree on this one, unless you become disagreeable.

Carry On.
Ok fine he's rotational-quality.

The point is that he's not a difference-making player.

I think having your identity revolve around an elite OL is smart.

I don't have a problem with using high picks to do this, because we seem to hit on all of them, whereas later OL picks have produced poor return.

Inversely, Dallas has not been nearly as successful with high defensive picks.

So if you're trying to reliably build a good foundation through the draft, OL is the way to go for us.

The problem is they won't spend in FA to address the defensive pieces in turn.

dead on. Jethro likes his shiny toys and they are almost always on O or skills players
Q is the first lineman that Jethro has brought in in a big trade or paid big money for since, well, maybe Bigg Davis? like 20 years ago.

This is an organization problem. Is Tyler Smith better than TJ Bass? Yes. Is the drop off massive? No. At least not enough to continually draft these first round lineman year after year. Were the only team that does it, has it paid off? No.

Tyler Smith is a fine player but so is TJ Bass. And neither of them make a bigger impact than what Jalen Pitre, George Karlaftis, Devin Lloyd would have on our defense.(whom we passed on)

We should have learned. We had Zack Martin the best guard in football for over a decade and it did absolutely nothing for the overall team success. Sometimes I think that they’re afraid of drafting so they take the safest pick possible and OG. It’s probably the easiest position to find…good organization take impact players in the first round not a pro bowl guard. A pro bowl guard will not sack the QB, intercept a pass, or make a game changing tackle. These are all things the cowboys are and have been desperate for. Not another pro bowl guard.
Couldn’t read anymore after that.

Well-- I see little value in what Dallas does in the draft for several seasons.

you do when they are the best player on the board.
you turn in that zack martin or tyler smith or tyler booker card and move on with your day.
smiling.

but we dont need a guard.
tackle.
or center maybe.
but our og spots are manned by tyler and tyler.
we good.
