TRADED Porter traded to Cowboys (2027/6th round, 2028/2nd round)

Apparently NO new contract ...........we have him for final year 2026 and can tag him 2027
Or work out a long-term or short-term deal. His salary for this year (minus signing bonus) is $4 million. He might be willing to take a two-year deal where we had a sizable signing bonus. Let's say we gave him a $10 million bonus, adding a $5 million cap hit, then throw in a non-guaranteed $20 million base for next year that allows us to move on with a $5 million hit if he doesn't work out. If he does work out, we have him under contract but can try to negotiate a long-term deal to bring down the base that we gave him.

Essentially, we'd be giving him $10 million to make sure we have him on the team next year if we want to have him on the team. But because of the way it is structured, he gets a nice incentive to sign this year and he's set to make top 10 corner money next year (without a new deal).

Cowboys fans are never happy. Jerry makes good trades and people are mad. Jerry does nothing and people are mad. I think some of you just like to be mad no matter what
If Porter is so good why would the Steelers trade him for the 64th overall pick in the 2028 draft and a conditional 6th?
Why did the Panthers trade CMC to the Forty Whiners?

Why did the Browns trade Myles Garrett to the Hams?

Who cares?

Good players get traded without there being some nefarious reason.

You have laid down the gauntlet, my friend.
If it makes it any better. We still need more edges and Lb’s. That’s why I’m kind of glad they did this trade for porter now.

Keep the first and 2nd rounders in the upcoming draft for more front 7 players.

You know a corner would have been the first this upcoming draft if they didn’t do this trade.

This just saved you from that….

For the Cowboys to make this trade they must be planning to play Downs at safety.
At the moment, Revel and Durant are both out so they still need a nickel corner. It'll be interesting to see how we shuffle the deck, though, considering how many safeties we have sidelined.
