Cowboys talked to Patriots about trade for CB Christian Gonzalez over the summer

I agree. I respect them for seeing what it would take but yeah I'd rather have Porter for the compensation.
As a player, Porter is worth a pick in between 20-40. McDuffie, who is in the same tier, went for 29, a 5th, a 6th and a 2027 3rd. I think McDuffie is a little bit better than Porter, but its close. So I would have Porters value pretty close to what McDuffie went for. I think if we tagged and traded Porter, we would get a top 40 pick

Yeah im completely shocked Steelers couldn't get at least next year's 2nd from someone.

So we are ok with Porter faking an injury to get out of Pittsburgh, but we arent ok with Micah doing the same to get away from this circus?

Is that what we are saying?
You get it. Fans will find a way to justify anything regardless of the hypocrisy involved.

No they just lap up whatever jerry feeds them.

This fan base turned on Micah as soon as Jerry told them to.
Like I said, if he was doing this here they'd all hate him. Stay tuned, because he might still do it if he doesn't get a deal on the table soon

Here's hoping Porter plays better than he looks -- (old guy, due for Social Security.)

So they wanted to trade for an impact edge rusher, whiffed on Crosby, drafted Malachi, signed 62 year old Von Miller then pivoted to corners?

Its astonishing they thought they were/are ok at Edge
The Ravens gave up two first round picks for Crosby. Are you suggesting Dallas should have outbided them?

That's what all of society is now so no difference. "Truth and honor! Oh wait, can I benefit? Let me lie like a rug and gimme, gimme, gimme. Forgive me, Father." Lol.

Definitely similar given both players phantom back injuries.
To be fair, Steelers had all summer to get a contract done. They tried to call the players bluff. Their policy of not negotiating during the season or giving out guaranteed money after year 1 is a bit silly. They are in danger of sliding into obscurity if they don't change their ways of doing business. Sound familiar?

Indecision killed them there. They had talks about it in the offseason. At that point they should done it if they weren't going to pay him. He would have gotten them a comparable package to McDuffie. After that teams were probably waiting on how the Gonzalez situation played out before pivoting. After his "back injury" made it obvious he was done there, his value tanked. If he was willing to play for them, they still could have gotten a #1

Not sayin I agree with how these players and others go about their business, but sometimes you have to use whatever leverage that's available to you.

Judgment be damned.
