Time to sell players

I don't want to overreact, but I think it might be time to try to sell some players. I would like to think the Cowboys will turn it around, but let's be honest. We have 4 draft picks if things go poorly the rest of the way.

Below are some players I'd try to trade:

  • Pickens - I love Pickens, but I don't see us keeping him after this season. We're already spending over $100 mil on our offense. Flournoy is no scrub, and we aren't taking enough deep shots. I think a team would give us a least a 2 and maybe a 1 for Pickens (who is still highly talented). There isn't a point in having 2 1WRs if we're not going to use both. Might as well get a pick or some picks back for him.
  • Ferguson - probably won't get much for him, but hey, I'll take a 6th for him lol. Get him out of here.
  • Bland - I know about the contract, but I could see the Bears or Lions trading for him. The Lions are stripped bare at CB, and they might go for Bland (and they have cap space). The Bears have Al Harris on their staff, and he might be interested if we were to try to trade Bland.

Additionally, I think we need to get rid of Steele after this season. Unfortunately, he has no trade value.

I'd love to add more players to my trade suggestions, but we might not have a lot of trade value on the team besides the three I mentioned, but at least two of the three should be able to get us some picks back.

Bland, Ferg, And Clark

Can get 40M of cap savings in 2027 by moving on from these 3 contracts.

Yup, imo, trade all 3 and get as many picks as we can get for them. And, with any luck, maybe the Raiders give us a 1st for Pickens. If not, I'd be happy with a 2 and a late round pick and run. We get a better pick for Pickens (a 3rd comp pick IF he gets top dollar in the 2028 draft), and, with those 4 moves, we can get some decent picks to try to retool.

Agreed . I'm not opposed to parting ways with Downs. Can't believe I even said that. But he doesn't fit here.
