Barry Switzer has a long-standing wish he wants Jerry to fulfill before he dies

Tom Landry, Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer remain the only coaches to have brought Super Bowl victories for the Cowboys. However, Switzer is the only one among them not on the Ring of Honor.
Switzer cost us a drive and possibly the game in the NFC championship game with his unsportsmanlike penalty.

501 is senile if he thinks he deserves to be in the Ring of Honor.

I don't know how anyone watching that game wasn't relieved when that game was over. We dominated the first quarter and Pittsburgh dominated the rest. O'Donnell kept turning the ball over. That's why we won.All I kept doing in the 2nd half of that game was looking at the clock.
That was by far the least enjoyable Super Bowl of the three. It was stressful and a relief when it was done.

Go look at the second half stats. I'm telling you they were going to win that game.
Those 2nd half stats you say go look at include us outscoring them 14-10 and O'Donnell's interceptions. You can't pick and choose what stats to look at in a vacuum.

Our defense stopped them on 4th down twice and forced 3 turnovers. Those are also stats. The Steelers scored on 2 of 6 drives, once on a short field.

Well that may be but without those 2 interceptions they win the game IMO.

lol... dude did nothing but take over Jimmy's team.
To his credit, his personality was perfect for that situation. He kept the team together and loose, when they could have revolted, whined and mope around when Jimmy parted ways. Psychological games are extremely important with any team situation. But, ROH?? No

Same as Gruden in Tampa. And people clamored to hire Gruden here. There is something to be said for taking over a successful team and not having it go off the rails.

But I’ve never said to myself, “self, The bootlegger’s boy needs to be in the RoH.”

The Team quit on him. That would be weird being a coach in the ring of honor of the team where the players quit on him.
They quit on him after the SB, when the salary cap started ripping our team apart. He wasn't brought in to coach longterm, he was brought in to be their buddy, keep it together long enough to win a SB that Jerry could throw in Jimmy's face. Barry benched Troy at OU, so there's no way, Troy was gonna put up with Barry, longterm. But, solid no on the ROH.

He did win a Super Bowl, which there's not of coaches on the planet have done that. But I wouldn't put him in because the team started coming apart after that under his watch. It would be different if he had gone out on a high note instead of a low note.
I don't think he had a lot to do with that SB win. I think that was mostly Aikman and the coordinators.

And Troy was a big factor in Chan Gailey being let go after 2 seasons, both playoff appearances.

I distinctly remember feeling like I was watching the death of a loved one as that game went on. It was obvious the run was over and it was going to be a real dogfight to get out of there with a win.

O'Donnell to the rescue! He gave away the game and made Larry Brown a rich man.

Yea I knew it was the end. I still think the 94 team was the better team. I think if Jimmy was still there, we 3-peat. Back to 95, I just never dreamed that 31 years later we wouldn't have been back.
